In an increasingly complex, demanding and competitive 21st century, students need to learn more than the 3R's they are tested on in school. It's time to help them go "above & beyond", by embracing the 4Cs - communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.
To get the word out to about the "3Rs + 4Cs" approach, P21 and FableVision partnered to produce a short, animated film called Above & Beyond. Enjoy & share, so we can help ALL our students flourish in the 21st century.
Offering a variety of tools and timely resources, the P21 Common Core Toolkit provides:
Alignment Overview
A high-level summary of how the P21 framework and the Common Core State Standards support each other
Common Core / P21 Examples
Lesson vignettes that demonstrate "what it looks like" to align instructional practices with both the common core and P21 skills
Common Core Resources
Compilation of useful links for states and districts working to implement the Common Core State Standards
Assessment Resources
Compilation of background reading on the issue of assessment and the 4Cs
The purpose of this course is to provide "Just in Time" training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should possess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discover what students need in order to meet the NETS for Students, as well as the new MMC Online Experience requirement. Participants who fulfill all of the requirements have the opportunity to earn SBCEU's. To learn more about the session, look under the tab "The 21 Things". We hope you take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Even if you have a 21st Century classroom, flexible and adaptable; even if you are a 21st Century teacher ; An adaptor, a communicator, a leader and a learner, a visionary and a model, a collaborator and risk taker; even if your curriculum reflects the new paradigm and you have the facilities and resources that could enable 21st century learning - you will only be a 21st century teacher if how we teach changes as well. Our pedagogy must also change
What are the characteristics we would expect to see in a successful 21st century educator? Well, we know they are student-centric, holistic, and they're teaching about how to learn as much as teaching about the subject area. We know, too, that they must be 21st century learners as well. But highly effective teachers in today's classrooms are more than this - much more.
