"October 6 , 2014 In a post I shared a few days ago, I featured three web tools to use to create screencasts on Chromebook: These are Screencastify, Snagit for Chrome and Google Plus Hangout on Air. Following this post I received a couple of emails from some teachers inquiring about how to use the last option which is Hangout on Air. So I went ahead and created this visual step by step  guide to help you create a screencast via Hangout on Air. This method works in all devices including Chromebook. 1- First, make sure you are logged in your Google account then head over to YouTube home page and click on the "upload" button. 2- Next, click on "broadcast" in Google+ Hangout On Air 3- Type in a name for your Hangout and then click on "share". You don't need to invite anyone. 4- To start broadcasting and recording your Hangout click on "start". In the next window that shows up click on "start broadcast". Now your Hangout will be live on both Google+ and YouTube. . 5- Hover your mouse over the left side of the window until the task bar pops up then click on "Screenshare" 6- Choose the screen you want to share. Now, whatever you do on the selected screen will be recorded in the Hangout. Click on "stop hangout" to end your recording.  Your recorded screencast is now available On your YouTube  channel in your uploaded video section. You can share it with your students or even make it private."

Interesting on YouTube. Privacy feature. If I am understanding correctly, you can share privately with up to 25 people but remember those people can then share. But it looked like you could invite friends who could then only view it as an invite. I may have to experiment with this.

This site is so cool. I went in and set up an account and added some people to a class. It was so easy. This will be a terrific site for educators. You can set up your students in a private class account. You can then post questions for them to comment to. You can post items on a calendar, bookmark sites you want them to review, hook up with other classes to collaborate and share, create surveys. I think teachers are going to love it. It is free. When you create your account, the information students need to get to your created class is generated by you and as long as you give them the class code and their password they should be able to get in.

Planboard is a free tool to help teachers schdule and share their class plans. Overviews are then available for weeks, and months.

"n today's post, I am sharing with you some interesting tips I learned from Jonathan Wylie  to help you record your iPad screen and create instructional screencasts and tutorials. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of creating a screencast on iPad are those popular apps such as Explain Everything and Educreations but the thing with these apps is that they do not allow you to record what you do on other apps. For instance, you can not open Explain Everything and go to Evernote app to record your screen there, once Explain Everything window is closed , recording stops. To be able to navigate your iPad and record this navigation, you will need to mirror your iPad screen to a bigger screen that is your computer. Once you can access your iPad screen  from your computer, you can then use a screencasting tool to record your iPad screen. Here is how you can do it all:"

The free site assembles user-generated content in three formats -- flash cards, multiple choice, and visual learning diagrams. The topics range from traditional school subjects, such as history, languages, and geography, to less academic categories, such as food, billiards, and television. Users can follow other users and their pages and edit other users' pages to craete their own unique page.

Google Apps Education Training Center is a new online learning environment designed for educators and students who want to effectively use Google Apps in an educational context. The site offers six modules, including Google Apps Education Edition, apps Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sites, and other tools. The training will cover customizing apps for individual schools; organizing e-mail effectively; creating shared calendars; collaborating with others online; using documents, presentations, and spreadsheets; delivering and collecting surveys, quizzes, and feedback; developing media-rich websites; and setting up internal video portals for schools.

One of the wonders of the Internet is that it can bring the world to you instead of your needing to find the time and money to explore the traditional way. The following virtual tours bring opportunities to explore cities, famous landmarks and buildings, museums, college campuses, and even outer space. You can learn how things are made, explore the human body or that of a life-sized whale, and visit ball parks and theme parks. There is even a section of incredible virtual tours that Google Earth has compiled that shares the world in a whole new way.

Great site, that offers a Book of the Month. It offers sample questions, test, blogs, etc. For various ages. I shared this site with parents and have gotten terrific feed back!

Cool site! A teacher can set up a site and have students dial in via their cell phones to submit assignments, and voice message responses. The teacher can log into the site and check the work submitted. Students can upload a variety of file types and can submit responses via voicemail.

I tried this out at the Pete and C conference and it was really cool. We phoned in an image to the teacher site and we were able to call in and submit a response to a questions provided by the teacher.

Multiple choice questions give students food for thought on how other nations eat and share their meals, manners included. Nice for World Cultures classes and maybe even FCS. Drumming may be slightly annoying,

This will tie in nicely with my unit on ettiquette with my Foods 2 students before their formal dinner!
