You'd think it would easy enough to add a track where the foul language is edited out just like they do on TV. I'd let my boys watch some PG-13 movies if they had such a track. Well, there may finally be a solution I've been looking for... VidAngel.com offers $1 movie rentals. Well, sort of. You pay the retail price of the movie (let's say $20) to get a digital copy and they promise to buy it back (in this case, for $19) within 24 hours. (Or for a $2 "rental" fee if You get HD instead of SD.) I think it works like Red Box in that if You don't return it in 24 hours, they buy it back for $1 (or $2 in HD) less the next day until You run out of "credit" and then You eventually own it for $20. Cool program. But... what I like even better is the filter options they give. You can choose to remove sex scenes or bleep out certain language. Then it shows You what You'll see and hear and the new length of Your movie. I think this could work well for Youth groups as well as for individual or family uses. I think I'm really going to like VidAngel. I can still be culturally current but without putting garbage into my head. I may ditch Netflix DVD for VidAngel soon.

The article is mostly an interview with Covenant Eyes, who makes accountability software and recently produced a free e-book for parents. I downloaded it to check it out and ended up reading the first four chapters just today. Chapters are short and include discussion questions. For a non-WELS resource, so far they do a fairly good job of being gospel-centered/grace-driven. Looks like a great resource.

A desktop wiki like tool for keeping track of notes, phone numbers, and even has built in tools to use as your GTD system. It is cross platform running on Linux and Windows. With Dropbox you can keep your notes synced between all of your computers. you can even attach documents, files, and insert pictures too to keep all of your information in one place. Each note page is saved in plain text making it possible to edit the files with a normal text editor if you do not have Zim Wiki installed on a computer but have access to the files.

You can set Google to notify You when a form has been submitted, but You only get a link to the update spreadsheet in Google Drive. This script takes all of the submitted data, arranges it the way You want in a document and sends a PDF to the email You designate. I left out the final step in his code, which deletes the temporary file. Now, I also have an archived Google doc of each submitted form! Now, we don't have to manually create a separate mail merge after all of the registrations have been received.

Get more cloud storage space. You know You want it. This is like Dropbox in how You upload and store and/or share docs and images. It is also the same in how You as a user get more space. Invite others! The ability to share large files that email can't handle is comparable to DB, but I think the sharing is set up in a more intuitive way. Faculties could use for sharing on specific projects -especially if it is a non google school.

The app shows the documents and video side by side. You also have the ability to perform some annotation of Your documents during the presentation. Very slick.

Phraseology (iPad only) is a friendly editing environment which is especially useful breaking down your word/phrase usage and frequency. Pay attention to the Flesch Kincaid Reading and Grade level scores along with other readability statistics, including root word frequency, and you can improve the comprehension of your written or oral presentation. Most pastors and teachers who either compose or copy-paste-revise content taking into account Phraseology's feedback should be able to greatly improve their audience's comprehension.
