The list of wikis below is just a smattering of some of the best open wikis available today. They were all nominated by teachers and administrators from around the world during this year's Edublogs awards. If you're not familiar with wikis, they're quite simply a website developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content. That's the official Wikipedia definition. What better place to get a proper definition, right? Without the right tools for finding science and math images on the web it is often an impossible, or at least mind-numbing, task. What is needed are search engines which make the job easier. The value of Twitter for helping you and your colleagues stay informed of the latest trends, ideas, resources, and Web 2.0 integration tools has increased tremendously in the past year. I just think that this site will enable us teachers who are quite iliterate in terms of web tools to be able to get closer to our students who are phd in using them, and then feel confident enough to use these resources to teach.

Cecília, Larry Ferlazzo's site is just great to follow. In some weeks, you'll learn how to follow its updates without even getting to his site! I'm sure you could spend a lifetime exploring all the resources he makes available for teachers.

The six top free online tools were selected from available web 2.0 tools for teaching and learning using presentations, blogging, and bookmarking online resources. There are many excellent online tools available in these three categories, making the selection difficult at best. However, the selection was made based on reviewing available online resources along with other contributions and feedback from teachers.

oEmbed is a format for allowing an embedded representation of a URL on third party sites. The simple API allows a website to display embedded content (such as photos or videos) when a user posts a link to that resource, without having to parse the resource directly.

Glubble.com is an exciting new online resource that helps families safely enjoy the internet together. Part social network and part web browser/filter, Glubble provides your family with an online meeting place to post pictures and messages for each other, and allows parents to monitor and regulate young children's internet use. One of the cool things about Glubble is that it uses your existing web browser, but allows you to "lock" it for your kids so they can only access pre-approved websites. Glubble provides a list of suggested websites, and parents can pick and choose which ones they like, as well as suggest other sites they would like their kids to use.

This is the homepage of my collection of curated links, focusing on online tools and resources for information management, productivity, education and some other areas. There are almost 1,300 links in this collection, gathered over almost 2 years' time, and I could continue on. I am sharing this with the Diigo community because I believe it will be especially helpful to anyone in academia.
