Here is my page for challenge 6-e "Ajaxed up". Instead of using a sports theme I decided to do it on some of my favorite actresses. Hope you enjoy! The code used was found on http://adamv.com/dev/javascript/http_request and http://www.webmonkey.com/tutorial/Build_an_Ajax_Dropdown_Menu

This site uses the google maps API to pinpoint the location of a restaurant. The most diffult task in creating this was trying to get the API to properly connect to the server. Once the key was properly loaded, the remaining functions seemed to work well.

This page points out the importance of sketching out a wbsite for design and programming purposes. In doing this it saves the programmer time and frustration in comparison with programming on the fly.

Here we have two dropdown menus (you won't see the second until you make a selection in the first), the second of which is dependent on the selection within the first. Right now, that is all that happens. I wanted to get a little fancier, and may still if I have time, but wanted to get it in as is for right now in case I don't get to snazz it up. Enjoy!

(I guess I didn't bookmark this properly the first time). I did this very basic form for school website that I may be redoing (its in the very early stages). However, the graphic I created is not showing up on firefox, only on Safari. I've tried everything that I know and still nothing shows up. The form, however, works.

Close, but I can get away with the email ASDF, which seems an unlikely email address.

Oh, and on the image--Firefox doesn't think it is a proper PNG. What program did you use to create the image?

This Webdesignerwall.com page shows 10 examples of what can be accomplished by using jQuery. I like these examples because these are features that I thought could only be achieved by using Flash. I don't see a Viddler video lecture in module 6 and therefore can't figure out how to do challenge 6B; so I added a floating sticky note here. All I wanted to say was that 'Mashing' inherently makes me think of the Monster Mash and that I want to hear that song. This is web prog 5d. It's the email and name validate one. It's about how QU students should have a choice between owning a Mac or a PC instead of just blindly choosing what the school tells you to get.

This is web prog 5-g. It is about PHP basics. At first PHP can be confusing, but once you know what it is trying to do it isn't all that bad. It's just a getting the coding correct.

How do you close a PHP segment?

I've begun to create the professor ratings page that I plan to complete for the final module. Here, I use javascript to display the form or hide the form depending on user input. If someone has javascript deactivated, those buttons do not appear (so as not to confuse them when they wouldn't work anyway). Hope you like it! I plan to build on this for the next module.

This is my drop down list that populates based upon the choice in one of the first lists. I originally wanted to do three lists region to city to sport... but I got too frustrated and might tackle that in module 7.... so this is not quite exactly the webprog of choosing between two sports... but the point is still the same. see my comments as to where I got and modeled the code from

This is Google's page that explains their Google Maps API. "The Google Maps API lets you embed Google Maps in your own web pages with JavaScript. The API provides a number of utilities for manipulating maps (just like on the http://maps.google.com web page) and adding content to the map through a variety of services, allowing you to create robust maps applications on your website." This is mentioned in Mod 6 and you can learn more about it by going to this site.

This site has lots of useful information re: javascript, event handlers, functions, etc. I found it particularly useful in doing the hw for Mod 5. It had so many script options I didn't even know where to start. Worth spending some time here!
