Common bugs and how to fix them.

A list of all the HTML codes, and then some. I looked over the list and had never seen quite a few (or at least never noticed them). I think its a good compliation of codes, as long as you know what you might be looking for, considering it *is* alphabatised.

I found this website to be extremely helpful when coding HTML. It lists the HTML tags available and then provides descriptions, and examples of each being used. While other books or websites reference the tags use and try to explain the result, the examples on this site put into action what the user will see when you use the tag. Definitely worth checking out if you ever get stuck

I cannot stress enough how much this site helped me in my course last semester with css and coding. The best part I found is that the example coding can be used and altered to fit whatever you are doing. That way, you see what it should look like and then add your own stuff to make the code your own with how you want the final product to look. That's probably the best way to learn HTML and CSS. And you can actually collect good examples from around the web, since HTML and CSS are always viewable.

A website that has comprehensive coverage of web technologies.

As one of my classmates pointed out...sometimes it's easier to learn complicated things when they are "kindergatenized" Here I found a site which appempts to explain PHP at the very bare minimum. I found it to be long and wordy...but I am actually understanding it, slowly.

Module 3 for me is beginning to shape up to be similar to Godfather III. At first I hated both but now I realize their value. OK, in this here bookmarked link, author Vikram Vaswani turns PHP into something akin to a nice novella with excellent screenshots as examples. This tutorial is engaging, friendly and filled to the brim with info.

A really nice, basic resource that explains PHP in a clear and understandable way. It makes a very nice complement to the instructional videos for the class.

An online training course from Web Developers Notes that explains the MySQL commands to create database tables: rows, columns, records, assigning unique id numbers to individuals records. At the news organization where I work, developers have used MySQL to create databases for Connecticut high school football and basketball statistics. To paraphrase Denzel Washington's character in "Philadelphia" (Heck, this may even be a direct quote considering I've seen this film so many times... ): "I want you to explain it to me like I'm a two-year-old." This site does just that! When I am learning a new skill, I want material that is utterly foreign to me to be Kindergarten-ized as much as possible. I would not be the least offended if I saw the following (and hopefully with pictures!): "See Spot mark up the plain text document. Mark up the plain text document, Spot, mark up the plain text document!"

I found this site to be helpful when learning the HTML process. It gives a brief overview of adding color when creating a web page.

I have found myself over the years Googling part of a HTML code to make sureI get it written correctly. Most of the time I will type in something like " just as a starting point. I think this site will help elimiate the need for many different sites. This looks to be a one stop shop for any common, and even some obscure HML coding.

W3Schools is an amazing resource. I used it in my last ICM class (512) for tutorials in XHTML and CSS. This particular page provides the hexadecimal codes for many colors that we can use in web pages as we go through our class challenges. Hope it helps! (I use it all the time!)

This site is about how to make an HTML document. It provides information on tags and provides an example of a simple HTML document. It is useful because it is very simple and easy to understand.

This page is just a basic intro/course description for an HTML class taught at UC Berkeley. It's really just a few sentences, but it's one of those short on words/long on meaning pieces of text that I admire because it gets to the meat of what HTML is all about in a very intelligent way. What struck me, though, was the line that states: "... it's valuable to know HTML even if your day job involves working with a content management system... " I work with a CMS all day! As I've mentioned before, I work for CNN.com and mainly produce interactive features and such, yet I know shockingly little about them there Internets! This course will hopefully help me bridge that gap between the material I am comfortable with, and that which intimidates me.

This site helped to give a little background on this issue of HTML vs XHTML.

This site presents a nice overview of what PHP can do, why you would want to use it. It starts you off with a very simple explanation and examples. I know there are alot of different introductions out there, but this is just another example. We all have to find things that we personally find easy to use.

Simple livin' and high thinkin'...one of these days, I'll get Java, but it won't be this semester!!
