Foundations of Semantic Web Technologies Chapman & Hall/CRC, 2009, 455 pages, hardcover ISBN: 9781420090505 (BibTeX). Semantic Web is a maturing field of technology that continues to be the emphasis of much focused research. This foundational text introduces the standardized knowledge representation languages for modeling ontologies operating at the core of the semantic web. To support the presentation of each language, the authors explain syntax and underlying intuitions through examples, with separate treatment of the underlying formal semantics. They cover RDF Schema, Web Ontology Language (OWL), rules, and query languages, such as SPARQL. The book also presents recent developments concerning the OWL 2 revision and the forthcoming Rule Interchange Format (RIF).

The Structured Data Linter is a tool aiding webmasters and web developers to verify the structured data present in their HTML pages. Search engines use structured data to understand webpages more accurately and to present enhanced search results. The Linter understands the microdata, JSON-LD and RDFa formats according to their latest specifications. Note however that it does not guarranty that all consumers (e.g. search engines) will make use of all the structured data available in your page. The linter does not currently support microformats (contributions welcome).

The OWL Web Ontology Language is designed for use by applications that need to process the content of information instead of just presenting information to humans. OWL facilitates greater machine interpretability of Web content than that supported by XML, RDF, and RDF Schema (RDF-S) by providing additional expressive power along with a formal semantics. The group's work is complete with the publication of OWL 2 (Second Edition). There may be new Errata and discussion on public-owl-dev@w3.org.

Wikicat is the bibliographic catalog used by the Wikicite and WikiTextrose projects. It will be implemented as a Wikidata dataset using a datamodel design based upon IFLA's Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records: final report (FRBR) [1], the various ISBD standards, the Library of Congress's MARC 21 specification, the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules' The Logical Structure of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules and Resource Description and Access (RDA), and the International Committee for Documentation (CIDOC)'s Conceptual Reference Model (CRM)[2]. The history and inter-relation of these various cataloging standards is described in RDA presentations.
