SIOC (Semantically Interlinked Online Communities) - an ontology for describing data from online community sites. This includes but is not limited to: blogs, bulletin boards, mailing lists and newsgroups. In this wiki we keep information about SIOC and its applications. We also use it to discuss work in progress and the future of SIOC. You can also find guidelines on how to use SIOC and some general information and thoughts about the semantic web.

Knowledge Organization Systems/Services (KOS) model the underlying semantic structure of a domain. Embodied as Web-based services, they can facilitate resource discovery and retrieval. SPITFIRE: Semantic-Service Provisioning for the Internet of Things using Future Internet Research by Experimentation

The journal Semantic Web - Interoperability, Usability, Applicability (ISSN: 1570-0844) brings together researchers from various fields which share the vision and need for more effective and meaningful ways to share information across agents and services on the future internet and elsewhere. As such, Semantic Web technologies shall support the seamless integration of data, on-the-fly composition and interoperation of Web services, as well as more intuitive search engines. The semantics - or meaning - of information, however, cannot be defined without a context, which makes personalization, trust, and provenance core topics for Semantic Web research. New retrieval paradigms, user interfaces, and visualization techniques have to unleash the power of the Semantic Web and at the same time hide its complexity from the user. Based on this vision, the journal welcomes contributions ranging from theoretical and foundational research over methods and tools to descriptions of concrete ontologies and applications in all areas.

Within the research program THESEUS, we develop and test new technologies for the Internet of Services. The broad spectrum of high-quality services ranges from innovative search applications for the digital library to modern service offers such as Cloud Computing. Herewith THESEUS allows us to actively shape the digital future. It thus underlines my understanding of a successful integration of economic and technology policies: Scientists, technology providers and users, especially SMEs, are being brought together for a fruitful collaboration. We expect THESEUS to give decisive impulses for further economic growth and employment through ICT.

RPI's Tetherless World Constellation will address this emerging area of "Web Science," focusing on the World Wide Web and it's future use. Faculty in the constellation will explore the research and engineering principles that underlie the Web, will enhance the Web's reach beyond the desktop and laptop computer, and will develop new technologies and languages that expand the capabilities of the Web. We will use powerful scientific and mathematical techniques from many disciplines to explore the modeling of the Web from network- and information- centric views.

Minerva Portals is a joint effort of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Jena and the IBM Deutschland Research & Development GmbH in Boeblingen. The overall goal of this project is provide an architectural solution for the next generation Web portals. We are aiming to overcome the drawbacks and limitations of static portals and make portals more intuitive, dynamic, and flexible. In this project, we work on Web portal extensions in the following areas: * Context-awareness. By taking into account the context in which the user is acting, we can efficiently adjust the portal to fit the user's current situation, for example depending on the currently used device, time or location from which the portal is accessed. * Adaptivity. Adaptive Web portals learn from the users' behavior and make assumptions about their information needs and potential behavior throughout future sessions.
