HighTouch: Freerange Tools: Email and mailing lists - 1 views

  • I've had nothing good to say about email and mailing lists since like forever. So in writing this post I'm having to eat some serious crow.
  • Our group runs the mailing lists for a much larger organization. We are currently running in the neighborhood of 65 lists, with several having memberships numbering in the hundreds. In spite of that, our little workgroup of 8 has sent over twice as many messages as the second most active group. So where we may not use general mailing lists anymore, having migrated to social networks for our conversations, we still conduct a ton of conversations using our private little mailing list.
  • The bottom line is that freerange workgroups hyper-communicate. They communicate a lot. They share like mad-- cuts to their flat and transparent nature. They use the best tool for the job. Email and mailing lists are incredibly important communication tools when used right. They are perfect for what they are, a delayed time, question and answer, and FYI mechanism for small freerange teams.

In private browsing & search | Stop online tracking & malware | Disconnect - 12 views

  •
We think your personal info should be treated with respect, that you should be the steward of your digital self, that you should own your own data. But today, you're getting a bum deal. Thousands of companies and organizations are taking, analyzing, and auctioning off things like the history of the webpages you go to and searches you do, without even telling you. So we're building a platform to put you back in charge and let you decide who does what with your online data. Advertisers and other third parties track, clutter, and slow down your web browsing. Disconnect makes the web your business not theirs.

packetgarden.com - 0 views

  • Packet Garden captures information about how you use the internet and uses this stored information to grow a private world you can later explore. To do this, Packet Garden takes note of all the servers you visit, their geographical location and the kinds of data you access. Uploads make hills and downloads valleys, their location determined by numbers taken from internet address itself. The size of each hill or valley is based on how much data is sent or received. Plants are also grown for each protocol detected by the software; if you visit a website, an 'HTTP plant' is grown. If you share some files via eMule, a 'Peer to Peer plant' is grown, and so on.

Diigo is about Social Annotation - 0 views

  • The Diigo team is dedicated to provide innovative and useful web services for our users. The name "Diigo" is an abbreviation for "Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff." Diigo (dee'go) is about "Social Annotation". By combining social bookmarking, clippings, in situ annotation, tagging, full-text search, easy sharing and interactions, Diigo offers a powerful personal tool and a rich social platform for knowledge users, and in the process, turns the entire web into a writable, participatory and interactive media. The social annotation service introduced by Diigo allows users to add highlights and sticky notes, in situ, on any web page they read. Imagine a giant transparency overlaying on top of all the web pages. Users can write on the transparency as they wish, as private notes or public comments. And they can read public comments on the transparency left by other readers of the same page, and hear their "two cents" and interact with them.
