The second type of data is known as categorical data. This is a data type that can be stored and identified based on the numbers given to them. This kind of data is mostly stored in the form of groups and categories. Each group is categorised using its label. The grouping or categorisation is usually done based on the data characteristics.

Spin-off from the Facebook group with the same name which some teachers created last year. Most of us are teachers at Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas, and we like to share ideas, links and debate in Facebook, but we thought that all these posts would be better organized if we had a group so they wouldn't be lost among other entries in our personal Facebook wall. When the group started to grow (there are 92 of us already), we realized that we were missing some kind of categorization, so we thought a blog would do the trick. And here we are. We choose the ideas that are more popular among the posts in our group in Facebook and write a post here.

We all use the web to research information, but until recently this meant saving copies of web pages as files or printing them out as you visit them in order to collect, save, highlight, or annotate each one. A new web browser tool has made it possible to do all of this electronically. I'm now able to mark up web pages as easily as if I were using a yellow highlighter and a red pen. When I return to those web pages my annotations are still there, and I can also choose to see others' annotations. I no longer need to copy and paste between web pages and Word to take notes, and to keep track of what came from where. This process is all digitally facilitated with the Diigo social bookmarking and annotating tool. This tool has shifted the way I read the world wide web to be much more active. Diigo (http://www.diigo.com) keeps track of my annotations and categorizes the sites based on the tags I specify. This ability to interact with websites in the same way I use a paper textbook means that I can highlight passages, "dog-ear" important pages, and scribble in the margins. I can do all of this individually or collaboratively with others.

Classification means classifying, categorizing, and sorting people and things into the same or different groups-the process of organizing uses one or more criteria for grouping. Similarly, a classification essay in writing has to organize and sort things together. A writer organizes or groups the ideas, characters, or objects with similar attributes and classifies them. The members of the same class must share similar characteristics. Writing a classification essay means dividing group members based on a specific criterion. A classification essay requires principles of
