  • 10 POSIBLES RAZONES / OBJETIVOS PARA REALIZAR APRENDIZAJE POR PROYECTOS GLOBALES (ApPG) Crear una conciencia global sobre otras culturas, lenguas y personas. Promover, específicamente, la comprensión de culturas, lenguas y pueblos diferentes. Desarrollar empatía por personas de otros países. Desarrollar relaciones de trabajo con personas de diversas culturas. Promover la expansión del uso de ApPG a nivel global para poder realizar proyectos con metas más ambiciosas. Aprender nuevas habilidades mediante aplicaciones internacionales de las Tecnologías de la Información (TIC). Incrementar entre estudiantes, docentes, padres y comunidades, el alfabetismo global. Mejorar tanto las relaciones como el comercio global. Mejorar las condiciones de vida de los miembros de la comunidad mediante la realización de proyectos conjuntos. Promover el logro de varios objetivos en forma simultánea (ecosistemas saludables, relaciones mundiales pacíficas, etc).
  • VENTAJAS Muestra como las diferencias entre lenguas o idiomas pueden convertirse en herramienta de aprendizaje. Permite que los estudiantes piensen y actúen por fuera de los parámetros educativos de su país. Ofrece una manera práctica de enseñar en las escuelas el valor de la diversidad. Suministra a los docentes una herramienta para que estudiantes diversos trabajen juntos. Ofrece un modelo para involucrar en proyectos de la escuela a los padres y a los miembros de la comunidad que hablan otras lenguas.. Estimula el crecimiento emocional, intelectual y personal mediante experiencias directas con otras culturas. Ofrece a los estudiantes la oportunidad de aprender diferentes técnicas para la solución de problemas. Ofrece modelos que permiten incorporar estrategias de pensamiento globales e interculturales. Prepara a los estudiantes para el alfabetismo global. Establece el reto de lograr que una tecnología basada en la Red funcione internacionalmente. Pone a los estudiantes a cargo de su propia comprensión de las perspectivas globales. Construye puentes entre diversos grupos culturales o lingüísticos dentro de una comunidad.
  • DESVENTAJAS Requiere trabajo adicional para superar las diferencias en el idioma. Las barreras impuestas por la distancia pueden redundar en aumento de costos. Manejar las diferencias horarias para comunicarse entre los equipos participantes en el ApPG puede ser difícil. Se requiere tiempo y paciencia para permanecer abierto a ideas y opiniones diversas. Las diferencias entre culturas generan malentendidos no intencionales. No siempre es natural o cómodo actuar de manera especial para llevar a cabo proyectos globales. Puede darse el caso de tener que sobreponerse a actitudes xenófobas por parte de la administración o la comunidad. Las leyes de otros países pueden requerir cuidado especial para no poner en riesgo a los estudiantes La conexión entre países vía telefónica o por sistemas tecnológicos puede ser difícil.
