This is a good listening activity, where learners will listen to a story and get used to coping with noise when listening. They can listen to the story with and without subtitles. Then they can answer comprehension questions. Alternatively, it is a good story - a part of Halloween party, and students can describe the clothes and characters they see.
This is good activity for advanced beginner level students to practice three things at the same time - Modal verbs, asking Polite questions, and Special questions. I'm going to try it with my practicum group.
Mini grammar lessons for kids learning English: am, are, is - positive form.
I tried this activity with one of my students during a private class. After many times of explanations of "to be" verb, I tried this game with him and found it very helpful. This game both teaches and gives practice for the target structure. I taught positive, negative and interrogative forms of verb "to be" with this game, and my student liked it, even playing it at home.
