This Glog, created by Sue Oxnevad, is titled "Google Docs For Learning". There are 12 notes attached to this online poster board. A site that is promoting coding in schools. Resources and testimonials on why this is a skill that should be taught in our schools, and where this knowledge will take our students.

Twenty years from now, many colleges and universities will be closed, their classrooms deserted and their students learning at home. These are the predictions of many post-secondary commentators these days. What is it that has changed so drastically? Is it that students are more demanding, faculty less committed, budgets too tight?

I'm reposting this from VIU Faculty of Education's Facebook page. It contains very useful information about deciding whether you can use materials in your practicum, classroom lessons, presentations, etc. from VIU Professor Julia Hengstler. Evidently, BC Teachers must be aware of the intellectual property clauses in their contracts.

I thought this was a really cool set of resources directly from NASA. Most of it is aimed at educators from a K-12 level. There is some really interesting stuff here, especially for educators in the science and technology fields. It even breaks down what audiences resources are appropriate for. I think the fact that NASA is involved could be a built-in way to grad student attention, right off the bat (I would love to check out a NASA webinar as a secondary student)

Here is a site containing links to a number of resources regarding Aboriginal education, hosted by the BC ministry of education. This could ask as a great starting point when looking for ideas on how to integrate Aboriginal themes an lessons into your classroom.

This is a great site with tons of resources. It was the resource package used for the "Foundations of Virtual Education" MOOC offered by Coursera. It well organized and provides a good overview.

This is a good review of the chapters that we read from Karen Kear in 503. The article talks about the various tools used to communicate with students and their effects on both the asynchronous and synchronous learner.

An article by Rick Wormeli at the University of Victoria that speaks to how to effectively manage rewrites and redos in the classroom. An interesting read.

I first saw this article a few years? ago and we used it to create a redo policy/guideline for our high school. It is a good article to share and really got me thinking about redos and re-writes. It got me promoting this allot more as a result reading this. The whole idea is to get students to learn and if redoing helps, well why not. the flip side is it has created more work for me by having to create another test if that is involved because I do not give the same one. Of course I have to re-mark it. All good as long as the student is putting more time into learning.
