Big Data Begins: IT Hero Rising - CA Technologies Corporate Blog: Perspectives - CA Technologies - 0 views

  •
"Let's get the harsh facts out there first - IT's in trouble, deep trouble. It has become way too reactionary. By IT I mean 'traditional' IT, the time honored 'old school' way of doing things. The pace of tech adoption is accelerating. By rights this should be a terrific opportunity for technologists and IT teams. In reality, old school IT has been shocked and awed by the consumerization of IT. "

Cure The Bullies - 0 views

  •
A cyberbullying 'epidemic' has hit our shores and threatens to contaminate our children through emails, chatrooms, blogs, mobile phones and social networking sites. The Bullies are nasty, highly contagious viruses that lurk in cyberspace, infecting young cyber citizens with unacceptable online behaviours. And unfortunately, something seemingly innocent such as forwarding an unpleasant email to someone can cause instant contamination. But help is at hand. SchoolAid, in partnership with the Vodafone Foundation, has launched a national campaign that identifies and personifies the different types of cyberbullying behaviours, and in particular, bystander behaviour, to raise awareness of this crucial issue, while encouraging open discussion among children and adults alike.

Children on Learning Spaces - 0 views

  •
This week our Year 4 team visited the RM REAL centre to look at how we might realise our ideas on learning spaces with the purchase of some new flexible furniture. Before we went I realised that whilst our teaching team have put considerable thought into how we might transform our learning spaces, we had not yet consulted the children.

"The iPad holds so many creative opportunities for the classroom, but is there a place for utilising this tool for online systems such as the Ultranet or On-Demand Testing in Victorian schools?"
  •
Interesting thought in this blog, iPads for online assessment. This has merit and we have the technology to do this now.

Moodle Blog » Import files from Dropbox into Moodle 2.0 - 0 views

  •
"I've only recently started using Dropbox but I am a big fan. It's really convenient to store and access your files from different computers in different locations. In Moodle 2.0 it is possible to import files you have in Dropox by choosing the Dropbox repository when you go to the new file picker. This video shows you how to set it up as admin. All you need is a Dropbox account and a Moodle 2.0 :)"

Tony Vincent's Learning in Hand - Blog - iPad 2's Display Mirrored on a Big Screen - 0 views

  •
"A feature that has long been request by educators has finally arrived in iPad 2: video mirroring. Video mirroring shows exactly what's on your device's screen on a second display, like a projector, television, or monitor. We're used to video mirroring with laptops--many teachers do this everyday. iPad 2 requires either the Apple VGA Adapter or Apple Digital AV Adapter. The VGA adapter connects to most projectors while the digital adapter connects to HDMI, which is common on newer televisions. Apple Digital AV Adapter also outputs sound while the VGA adapter outputs only video to the display."
