I enjoyed the session (3/1 7:pm) with Dan Reams very much. It's not that the information was so exciting as much as I was excited to participate in a virtual setting which is all new to me. I am certainly not a total beginner with technology, but am behind the curve and happy to learn more.

Probably the most interesting web site he shared with us which will help me is the custom Google search. The ability to find articles at the right reading level more easily will save me tons of time. I constantly spend hours trying to find just the right web sites which my high school government students will be able to digest. But now, with the custom search, I should be able to streamline my searches more effectively.

That was my reply as well. If they can't read it, it is worthless!

The thing that wills tick with me from the presentation was the way that you can format a Google Search. I never knew you could adjust a search to meet criteria all the way down to reading level. This is a great resource for Middle School students in particular. It makes it so the material that they find is appropriate in content and context. I have since gone and explored other options to adjust the searches. I also like the no ad search. It seems like a little distraction, but for a student who does not realize those first items are ads can make a difference.
