How 3D printing is becoming more accessible to teachers; includes a link to the Smithsonian about a release of some of their data sets which will allow students to recreate artifacts for study in their classrooms.

This is an article by a 3D printing company (so obviously they have their own agenda), but I did think it presents some interesting uses for 3D printers for various subjects.

The good and the concerning of 3D printing 

Bull explained that digital fabrication provides an engaging entry point for integrating more math, engineering, science and technology in elementary schools.

The President concluded that the future of the United States depends upon our ability to encourage young people to "create and build and invent."

Students explore the concept of similar right triangles and how they apply to trigonometric ratios. Engineers use trigonometry in relating to objects and distances that they cannot directly measure.

The ability for students to gain access to the critical skills these subjects offer is critically important as the future workforce is projected to be dominated by those possessing technology and science skills over the next several decades.

This interactive site provides links to THE NROC Project, Phoenix college, KHAN Academy, PhET, and STEM bite. The resources use digital media that incorporates lessons for science and math. Students are able to learn concepts and apply the skills needed to show their understanding of these concepts. Students are given assessments on this site that check for understanding.

This is great. I always have trouble getting caught up on algebra in my classroom so I will have to use this.

Computer coding is important to including STEM in education. This skill should be included in early education and it should build with each level of curriculum.

This is one of the many awesome "app flows" that graphite has to offer for secondary math. graphite.org is a plethora of awesome lessons for educators of all core contents, but I especially like their math flows!

I like to share the resources that I find with other colleagues and educators.  Building a website has allowed that to be easy.  It took quite a bit of time, but maintaining it is easy and I utilize Edmodo quite a bit, along with Pinterest to add to my collection of resources.

Khan Academy is a really awesome self-paced website that allows students to practice math skills on their ability level. It also allows them the opportunity to master the skills they are learning and gradually move forward to work on more challenging skills.
