The link has some good arguments. I think digital sculpting has it's place, especially with 3D printing, although the featured software, Zbrush isn't cheap, even for an academic license.

A great article on digital jewelry prototypes. Jewelry that has a computer in it. This is so great. I am in the jewelry industry and this is the first I've heard of this. I can't wait to share it with my co-workers.

Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library. You can download books, movies, music in the file type/format of your choosing for free. They have lots of out of print or otherwise unavailable materials.

I have decided to share this, because of the impact that tiny desk concerts from NPR have made on today's music scene. Being able to share intimate performances in a digital space is incredible. I highly recommend perusing through their YouTube page and even subscribe on ITunes.

This is awesome, as a keyboard player that likes to keep his skills brushed up. Reminds me of the old Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing program I had on my first Packard Bell computer.

New Zealand Symphony is making really good use of technology. Their website features digital stories about the conductors, musicians, composers, etc...and it is done really well. Much more interesting than most orchestra websites.

There is so much discussion in the art community about how the ability to digitally alter a photograph impacts its perceived "legitimacy". My favorite quote from this article, which sums up my position on the debate: "... no amount of technology will turn a mediocre photographer into a great one. Nor, in conceptual terms, will it transform a bad idea into a good one. For that you would still need to possess a rare set of creative gifts that are still to do with seeing, with deep looking."

There is much discussion about the manipulation of photographs using computers.  But as this exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art demonstrates, photo manipulation dates back to the 1800's.  So, is the method of manipulation actually relevant, or are computers just another step in a long history of the technological evolution of the medium?
