Insights from Our Office Aaron Weyenberg is the master of slide decks. Our UX Lead creates Keynote presentations that are both slick and charming-the kind that pull you in and keep you captivated, but in an understated way that helps you focus on what's actually being said.

It's a number that tends to jumps out at you: one in every five students has dyslexia. That means there's bound to be at least one student with some sort of reading difficulty in pretty much every classroom. But teachers may not know how to help these students.

"Padigogy" for apps

I just came across this wonderful graphic and thought you might like to have a look as well. This is a work done by our colleague Susan Xnevad. The graphic is designed in such a way to help teachers learn more about how to use SAMR model to integrate technology in education.

Today's students must be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape. Zip codes and borders no longer determine the learning opportunities, skills and careers that students can access. The ISTE Standards for Students are designed to empower student voice and ensure that learning is a student-driven process of exploration, creativity and discovery no matter where they or their teachers are in the thoughtful integration of ed tech.

Our group compiled a list of resources to share with staff as part of the staf dev. plan we created. The resources focus primarily on digital citizenship, blogging, and PLNs. If any of these are of use or you haven't come across them yet, feel free to explore at your leisure.

The web provides limitless opportunities for learning, creating, sharing, and exploring the depths of human knowledge. But it is also an unsafe arena where one needs to be equipped with the needed tools and know-how to better stay safe and browse the net securely.

The K-12 sector is investing heavily in technology as a means of providing students with a more customized educational experience. So far, though, the research evidence behind "personalized learning" remains thin. The U.S. Department of Education has given half a billion dollars to districts that embrace the trend, with limited findings to date.

We believe that educational opportunities should be available to all learners. Creating an open education ecosystem involves making learning materials, data, and educational opportunities available without restrictions imposed by copyright laws, access barriers, or exclusive proprietary systems that lack interoperability and limit the free exchange of information.
