Teaching tech in isolation never works. When a reluctant tech user learns how to do something with a project about which they're personally passionate, they're gonna be instantly engaged, work hard at it, and feel super exultant when it works!

As a chief technology officer or director of technology, probably one of the toughest challenges you face isn't keeping up with the technology, but rather understanding how to leverage it for your organization. While in the past, we were limited by the occasions that served as "learning experiences," in the 21st century, learning isn't restricted to a special event bound by time and place.

Mark Ray is a person I first learned about in my M.Ed. program. He was a featured speaker in my course, and he literally reinvented & brought the libraries back from obsolescence in his district. Follett is now featuring him. Inspirational!

Information overload, information crap,information pollution...are some of the words that are being used now to describe the tsunami of irrelevant information we are bombarded with day and night.In December 2009, Google began customizing its search results for all users, and we entered a new era of personalization. With little notice or fanfare, our online experience is changing, as the websites we visit are increasingly tailoring themselves to us.Everywhere you turn you find information that seems relevant to you but in fact is nothing but crap.

I've been blessed as a student and as an educator. There have been so many who have crossed my path that have influenced me due to their love and compassion that they've shown to me. I hope to pay it forward each day in my personal and professional life.

A wise person once told me that if you lose a teacher's trust, it's nearly impossible to regain it. Without trust, an instructional coach has very little influence over the professional growth of a teacher, and ultimately, student achievement.
