Many libraries encourage staff to participate in opportunities for the library to actively engage in the community outside library walls...with good reason: Collaborations can enhance the library's ability to serve your community and make library services more visible and valued. Although aimed at public libraries, thought some of the strategies/resources were applicable to school libraries.

Because libraries are information and research centers, they can support a huge variety of grant funding initiatives outside their own purview. Cultural centers, businesses, and educational institutions are untapped resources for library funds. What's more, many libraries may find that collaborating on a grant application with another organization is preferable to going forward with a time-consuming application of their own.

Think about this in terms of libraries: "Art and history are something you do, not just something you learn about. By inviting people to actively participate with us in co-creating programming, we empower them as creative agents, cultural producers, and people for whom the museum is a relevant, compelling partner. Being a strong community hub requires bringing people together across difference, encouraging bridging experiences instead of targeting a specific audience. Networking is a prime form of 21st century learning. The world is much smaller thanks to technology. Learning is transforming into a globally collaborative enterprise. Take for example scientists; professional networks allow the scientific community to share discoveries much faster.

As a teacher, Google Docs is definitely an important tool in your digital toolkit. It provides you with an easy and simple platform where you can compose, work collaboratively and share your documents. With the introduction of third party add-ons, Docs' functionalities have been tremendously expanded empowering users with a plethora of advanced features available only in premium writing editors.

A wise person once told me that if you lose a teacher's trust, it's nearly impossible to regain it. Without trust, an instructional coach has very little influence over the professional growth of a teacher, and ultimately, student achievement.
