Think about this in terms of libraries: "Art and history are something you do, not just something you learn about. Many libraries encourage staff to participate in opportunities for the library to actively engage in the community outside library walls...with good reason: Collaborations can enhance the library's ability to serve your community and make library services more visible and valued. Although aimed at public libraries, thought some of the strategies/resources were applicable to school libraries.

Like that although this is a Public Library site, advocates/supports the idea of the library as a community center.

Attract students to libraries and other rooms of learning by creating agile, inviting spaces with makerspace elements and, most importantly, a community feeling.

Go the education section of your local newspaper. Watch the local news or check out the station's website for stories about education. How many stories deal with controversy and shed a negative light on the state of education in your community? Now look again for the other perspective.
