Teachers' Domain is a free digital media service for educational use from public broadcasting and its partners. You'll find thousands of media resources, support materials, and tools for classroom lessons, individualized learning programs, and teacher professional learning communities. You just can't beat CPB stuff!

What a great resource. I've always seen NOVA programs that would be interesting to share with my students, but I did not know there was a sight where I could search by topic. I also like that they level the clips by appropriateness for grade level. I already plan to use the clip on planets' sizes in relation to each other. Thank you for sharing this. I see myself using it a great deal.

Blogspot - 1 views

This is a great place to set up a website for classroom or personal use. Many teachers are now moving toward websites on blogspot. You are able to do so many things on these blogs such as: post pictures, play music, follow others, post documents, etc. These blogs are incredible. I usually get lured into one, then another and another most days/nights and before I know it...an hour has passed. Why not set your blog up today?

This site hosts high quality photos for the airline industry. The sections i utilize in class is the rejection guide. They give many great examples and explanations for why photos get rejected based on composition and quality. The examples are high quality and contain many unique and creative shots.
  •
Very useful site for students to review the types of shots and see examples of them. Thanks!

TED ~ Ideas Worth Spreading (videos) - 1 views

  •
"TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. " This is a great site to research ideas from others' perspectives and apply that information to your projects. I think middle school and high school teachers can use this with their students and search a topic and have one of the speakers help to apply or review the knowledge the teacher is covering. I plan on using the technology perspectives with my eighth graders of a great example of how to communicate with your audience.

Beyond the fact that some of these are great resources for teaching (Have you seen the one on Marshmallow towers? Undersea Astonishments?), many of these are good pick-me-ups, either because they are inspiring, or funny, or just get 'ya going.

There are some very interesting and enlightening talks here. I do like that many of the talks are related to where the world is heading and how we can better prespare our students for the future that they will inhabit.

Word Learner - 1 views

This website allows teachers to easily create word puzzles such as matching activities, flash cards, crossword puzzles, and word searches. Online versions of these same puzzles can also be used. It also has an online dictionary feature that provides the definition of a word as well as uses it in a sentence and provides different translations. Students can also choose from an extensive list, which dictionary they'd like to use. Some features do require the user to create an account, and there is also a premium account that users can pay a fee for. I'm sure this would open up even more resources, though I did not try this portion.

Free File Conversions - 1 views

  •
This is a cool website that will allow you to convert a file into another type of file. It has the capability to convert audio, video, image, document, ebook, archive or hash files into anything else! The audio file conversion tool could be particularly helpful in band. Many students like to download music on iTunes, but then can only play those songs on iTunes. Students could convert the file and then play it on any other type of music player. This would allow the music to be portable if they don't have an ipod. Students would be able to hear their music and practice their parts mentally from anywhere!

this loooks like a very useful site, with all the new audio and video formats out there, this would be nice to be able to utilize the various files without purchasing software that has a short shelf life

Music Help - 1 views

  •
This website allows students to get quick information about anything related to music. The information is given in the form of text and graphics. The graphics are particularly nice because they can help students who need to physically see things to help them understand a particular concept.
  •
I agree, the graphic representations are nice. The site also provided free staff manuscript paper for download and printing and had a handy music dictionary.

The games on this site will help students build their multiplication skills, and they will have a blast as they learn. Give the Diaper Derby game a try!
  •
I have to say, I really enjoyed the Diaper Derby :) What I liked about this site is it gives the teacher ideas of ways to teach the multiplication facts as well as games for students to practice their facts. You can also customize many things to practice certain levels of facts. I also noticed that the site has ideas for additional games you can play with the entire class or small groups!

I've actually been looking for a website like this to help my 8 year old learn her math facts in a fun way. This is perfect! So many different options, too, which is great. Thanks Sarah!

Flashcard Exchange - 0 views

This website has many collections of flashcards ranging from basic sight words, Spanish vocabulary to studying to be a CNA. With this resource teachers and students can make virtual flashcards. Parent volunteers could easily monitor student practice of basic sight words and record words that need more practice. Teachers would no longer need to search for baggies of flash cards. Parents could practice with students at home.
