A great site for students to get to know 14 of the different National Parks. Students can click on one of the fourteen park sites and learn more about the park. There are also activities and games that go along with it. I would use this site in Social Studies when studying the United States.

This site gives census information on states, cities and towns throughout the country. It would be a great site to use for figuring percentages in math, comparing and contrasting different cities and states in geography.

This site is s group of newspaper and magazine articles from African American issues to cartoon historical articles. It includes magazines for fashion in the 30's and earlier. It has movie reviews and music history. In other words, just about anything in history that one would like to look up in the newspaper or magazines. These sites are very good for students to see first hand information about a particular time in history. These kinds of sites can be used for almost any kind of project the teacher can think up. The teacher librarian needs to be aware of at least a few of these different kinds of sites.

This is a cool site. It has newspapers that were actually written during the Civil War era. It has them listed by year. The man who teaches next to me does an awesome job of teaching the Civil War each year. A good project for the kids might be to have them in groups or pairs and each research a particular time line during the war. They may not even believe newspapers existed back then so this site would be a good one to lead them toward to do research. Each paper has pictures and writing.

This is and an awesome site for students who want to intern for any government job possible. There are connections to the FBI, the state department, EPA, and many more. This would be good experience for any 9-12 grade student. The teacher librarian could be a big help to a student wanting to intern with almost any government agancy.

This site seems to be a very good one. It has many images of various happenings in the history of the U.S. It has historical statistics of the United States. There are more research tools available through this site. It is related to Yale University.

This site would be useful in the American Literature classroom because there is a ton of information on various literature. Students could find information about early American Literature, women authors, as well as poetry. I have actually used Paul Reuben's site (which is included in a link on this page) for my American Literature classes. There's a lot of background information teachers can use to help instruct students on the literature (criticism, interpretations, etc).

Some key primary sources regarding the Vietnam War are included on the site along with some helpful suggestions for teachers. There are quite a few interesting reflections on the war and information from "the trenches" included on this site as well.

This site would be extremely useful for history teachers when teaching about Vietnam. There are letters, maps, as well as first-person accounts from people who were in Vietnam.

This site seems to be a good one for 4-12 grade levels. It has interactive weather sites, the ability for students to make up their own interactive sites. There is a weather channel they cna visit. They can alos explore a site called the "Weather Eye", one called, "Accuweather", and one called, "USA Today Weather. At each of these sutes there are various other sites to go to to do different activities. This site would be a good one of which a school teacher librarian should be aware.

This site provides information about poets and their poetry that Literature/Language Arts teachers could use in their classrooms. There are links to specific poets, such as Ted Kooser and Walt Whitman, as well as a link to recorded poetry. Students could research poets, they could listen to poetry, or they could read poetry on this site.

I chose this site because it appears to cover all students K - 12. It has lesson plans, worksheets, and activities for all 13 grade levels. It also has helps for teachers in grades K - 12. The website has various activities which can be used directly on the web and others for paper and pencil activities.

This PBS site has a ton of information about the Holocaust teachers can use to create lessons about the Holocaust.

This site offers many primary sources and documents from the Holocaust. It also provides teacher resources teachers can use to teach their classes about the Holocaust.

This site has information on tribes from the United States, primary sources. and lesson plans teachers can use when teaching about the Native Americans.

Encourages/motivates eating healthy and being active. Fun resources for children/parents for learning about and tracking eating/exercise habits. Food/exercise pyramid. Elementary grades.

This site offers lots of documents and information about the Salem Witch Trials. I use this site in my American Literature class when we are reading "The Crucible".

This seems to be a good site for U.S. history. It separates lessons by ERA. It incluseds worksheets for each ERA as well as documents which are related to the ERA. There are pictures from each of the ERAS and various teaching activities. I would use this site for the 9-12 grade student with the possibility of use with middle school students.

A primary source site concerning the Nazi's murder of the mentally ill during World War II. I would use these primary documents during the study of WWII so students become more aware of Hitler's view of those who are disabled.

This site offers readers a chance to hear the voices of people the history textbooks have traditionally left out. Interviews done in the 1930's with former slaves are transcribed on this site, some with photographs of the former slave included. The transcripts are difficult to read because of dialect, racial slurs, and some troubling content. With teacher assistance, though, I think these transcripts could help students better understand life for slaves in our country's history.

This site provides first-person accounts from former slaves. I have actually used this site in American Literature to show students what slaves went through. It gives them a voice and students have really connected with the slaves' stories. Students can find lots of material about slavery, but the first-person accounts make it much more personal.

Although this site focuses on primary documents that orignated in California, there is some great primary documents from the Gold Rush, immigration, World War II, Pearl Harbor, and more. There are many quality photographs found on this site along with newspaper clippings from history.
