This site can be used as a resource for projects involving conservation, protection, or Nebraska ecosystems. If you study Nebraska animals or fish this is a great place to start. Every species of Nebraska fish can be viewed in detail using the fish identification tool, which also provides great descriptions and characteristics.

This is a site which gives various manuscripts from 1775 - present. It is easy to navigate. From the essays is a link to the digital reproduction of the manuscript. Great site for a social studies teacher.

The WorldWildlifeFund has long been a reliable and strong force in global efforts to protect some of our worlds most vulnerable animals. Though the site solicits donations, the articles on animals and facts about endangerment are great resources for students doing animal research. Beautiful photos and facts.

This is another portal with a ton of great links. There is a page full of links for educators and then drop down menus that separate K-6 and 7-12. In these drop-down menus are links to entire pages of websites devoted to topics like the government, history, the military, math, and science. Not all of these sites have government documents, but many of them do.

A fabulous resource for primary source documents detailing important events in American history. The site links you to the actual document image, which students would love, and the explanation below. Over 100 original documents with live links. Also a tab for teacher resources. Great site for American history research.

This University of Washington home page provides access to primary documents, photographs, projects related to the Native American tribes. The initial page allows you to access tribal documents and other collections by country subsections. There is a specific section on Omaha as well as documents on Wounded Knee in the Midwest link. The site accesses many university projects relating to Native Americans, including University of Arizona and University of Oklahoma, all legitimate sites. This would be a great site for social studies students in OPS schools where eighth graders learn about the Trail of Tears and other significant Native American events.

The Nobel home web site offers a generous supply of first hand information not only on the prize itself, but of the many men and women who have earned the prestigious prize. The entry here is of Herman Hesse, his autobiography sketch in his own words. The home page offers links to all winners in all areas, the sciences, literature, etc. A great resource for librarians as well as students, mostly appealing to high school and up, wanting more specific information on Nobel Laureates as well as the origination of the prize.

This would be great site for fifth graders. Gives background and information about each of the states and links to more stories about that state.

This is a great website for kids to learn about our government. It contains theme units (grade level specific) students can access. In each unit are interactive games and slide shows students can view to learn more about our nation/government. My students love to visit this site.

This is a primary source document . . . in Spanish! It is purported to be (as I'm no hispanohablante) a letter from 1570 that "describes the settlement at Ajacàn and requests that Juan de Hinistrosa, the Royal Treasurer of Cuba, send a ship of grain to sustain the settlement." This would be great for Spanish class, obviously, and then maybe for world history after the other students translate it. :-)

This website is a great source to go to find information about Nebraska. It is the Nebraska Historical Society website. The site has many links that will lead to a wealth of information on the state of Nebraska

This internet site provides a variety of resources for learning about the state history of Nebraska. Searching through the wide historical collections online, I discovered a wealth of photographs, maps and even information about individuals and families. The society does provide a specific "Teacher Materials" link. For fourth grade Nebraska social studies standards!

This site would be a great resource when studying explorers. There are letters and journals written by explorers that students can read that date further back than Christopher Columbus. The articles might give the reader a better idea of how the people were feeling while they were on these explorations.

This is a great source when studying southern history, literature or culture. In this source you will find slave and other first-person narratives of the South, as well as a collection of southern literature. It could be used when studying the Civil War to get more of a southern point of view.

This site has original photos and captions done by Lewis W. Hines. Hines took up photography as a mines of expressing his social concerns. This site could be used for Am. History, or in some photography classes to study Hines. The photos are very thought provoking and of great quality.

This is a fabulous site filled with tons of information that could be used when studying history from colonization to the Revolutionary War. There are timelines, maps and documents put into the appropriate category you are looking for during this period of American History. Great site!

This website is a veritable prize for teaching the Civil War. There are full page scans of every weekly issue of Harper's Weekly during the Civil War. Beautiful line art and verbose writing style included for free. The site has Google ads, but no pop-ups at least, and the content is valuable enough to be worth wading through those. The site is easily navigated, so that isn't difficult. Great for writing Civil War DBQs.

This site has over 600 primary source documents from the time of Christopher Columbus to the Civil War. This would connect with 5th grade curriculum about the American Revolution and Native Americans. This would be a great resource to introduce to teachers and students.

This is an amazing site with hundreds of annotated American political documents.  There are items written by Christopher Columbus, Cotton Mather, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and William Bradford.  This site would be very useful to a classroom teacher to show the actual documents that are discussed in a textbook. 

This site uses resources housed by the New York State Library. It is a lesson plan using newspaper articles from two New York newspapers from the late 1800s. The lesson plan includes the documents as well as activities using them. In addition to being a useful lesson plan for the Gilded Age and labor movements, it also serves a model for those wondering how to set up a unit using primary documents.

This site has 2 of the items on the NeSA-Reading test in April. This site will have videos that have assignment that you can save and modify to your needs.

This is a great source that has a list of artists/musicians from the Harlem Renaissance. It has direct links to the poems and audio links to the music. I would use this site in the study of History or literature during the Harlem Renaisaance.
