This is a book that explains how the different parts of South Africa were colonized by the British and the different European settlements in South Africa were determined by what the specific location could offer for example fertilized soil that is good for crops and the beautiful scenery of Cape Town some landscapes were too good to be true and other parts were desolated . The Britain climate could not sustain crops because it was either too hot or too cold, this led to them wanting to colonize South Africa which eventually led to the war.

Guns in colonial South African History - 0 views

Guns in South Africa were initially introduced as a resource to help hunt animals and for protection but they were mainly for hunting animals. It was believed that the firearms would help chase away beasts which would result to better agriculture as they could then grow to their full potential without being removed or destroyed by wild animals and beasts. This would benefit everyone as agriculture was booming in the Southern part of Africa and could grow crops that couldn't grow overseas. The use of fire arms obviously greatly changed over the years.

This is a writing on the event where Colonel H. C. Gawler is voicing out his concerns to the British Colony regarding the fact that South Africa is located at a perfect location and consists of many advantages to the British colony as they own majority of the land in South Africa. This means that on the Cape which were owned by the British colony there were other resources that benefited them such as the agricultural products, minerals and many other resources that were not available in Britain or their other colonies. He also talks about the Dutch who are now known as the boer and how they expanded till the British finally decided to grant them the permission to manage their own affairs.

This is a piece of writing that entails of confidential conversations between consul Elton and the people above him that he reports to about the observations he had made and how concerned he is about the Zulu nation purchasing a lot of guns and gun powder which may backfire in the future. He is mainly concerned about the amount of guns being bought and the location that the Zulu nation is based in because it is basically based in a convenient location that is easily accessible and encircled by all the trading routes.
