The suspended student, sophomore Andrea Hernandez, was notified by the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio that she won't be able to continue attending John Jay High School unless she wears the badge around her neck, which she has been refusing to do. The district said the girl, who objects on privacy and religious grounds, beginning Monday would have to attend another high school in the district that does not yet employ the RFID tags.

How would Leonardo da Vinci use Evernote? - 0 views

  •
"Today, you can capture your thinking the way da Vinci did with Evernote, a powerful personal information manager that enables you to store, tag and organize nearly any kind of digital content, any time, anywhere. My gut feeling, based on what is known about da Vinci's passion for learning and exploration, is that he would embrace Evernote's many capabilities to fully to capture, enhance and bring even more of his remarkable ideas to fruition."

The new platform, "Amazon Inspire," would allow teachers to upload, manage, share, and discover resources in a similar fashion to the reviewing and purchasing systems already in existence through Amazon. Content will be searchable using assigned metadata tags organized by the federal Learning Registry, and will aid in an effort to collect data concerning how digital resources are created and used."

"In February 2011 I started participating in something called the Daily Shoot, in which amateur photographers were encouraged to complete a photography assignment sent out via Twitter each morning. Photos uploaded to Flickr and tagged appropriately were aggregated on the Daily Shoot website, where I had a lot of fun seeing how others interpreted each day's assignment. I'm a much more creative photographer because of my participation in the Daily Shoot."

Farewell to Facebook - 0 views

  •
"Horror stories have been published about employers asking for job applicants' Facebook passwords. Recently, psychologists discovered that employers frown upon applicants without a Facebook presence. The lack of a profile raises many red flags: is this person anti-social? Was once tagged in too many party photos? Is he or she just pretentious?"

  •
In the OER4Adults survey, we identified over 170 OER Initiatives across Europe and other countries (mainly the US). Many of these initiatives - those who provide OER for adult and lifelong learning - are from the higher education, vocational and school sectors. These initiatives assume that the primary users of OER are teachers and registered students, but the might not necessarily think about 'nonformal' learners.

""We're the parents of 'Success Kid' for goodness sake," Laney told The Daily Dot. "If anyone understands the power, the mass, and goodwill of the Internet, it's those of us lucky to experience it daily." A few newspapers got word of it, and soon a Redditor put the word out: "Calling All Redditors: Success Kid's Dad needs a Kidney. Donate Here." It went viral and in a few days, the campaign hit $100,000 - well over the target."
