Whatever the reason, bad days are part of life. However, we can choose how we react to them. One option is to dwell on the situation, and let our negative emotions persist throughout the day. But this is unpleasant, and there's a good chance that our mood will spread to others. Instead, we can take the initiative and find ways to make a bad day better. This choice is empowering and positive, and it puts us in control of our actions and emotions.

If you want to be an expert communicator, you need to be effective at all points in the communication process - from "sender" through to "receiver" - and you must be comfortable with the different channels of communication - face to face, voice to voice, written, and so on.

Kanban, which was originally modeled after a Toyota Production System, means "billboard" or "signboard" in Japanese. Scheduling systems like Kanban help to eliminate wasted resources, help people make more efficient use of their time, build stronger and more robust businesses, and improve current designs. This way, future businesses are able to reap the reward of previous experiences, solutions, and expertise.

And since Kaizen is currently not just a philosophical concept, but a rigorous methodology, we should also look at the Kaizen improvement cycle. It can be broken down into 6 steps that should be repeated continuously:

Repeat...repeat... repeat the cycle by making another small, incremental improvement.

We can always use some good reference material.

I was recently working with a customer who works as a supervisor in a distribution operation.  She's new to lean and is tasked with developing her team to work autonomously to meet customer needs and continuously improve processes.  She asked, "How do I teach my team?"  It's a simple question, with a not-so-simple answer.  So, here are some thoughts on teaching others.  Keep in mind, I'm not trained to be a teacher, although I've facilitated many workplace training events.

Do one task, to completion, before moving on to the next.
