D#1, HW#13-Design Website-Architectural Design - 0 views

D#1, HW#13 I really enjoyed this website for a couple different reasons. First of all, the design process is similar to that in the book, but yet it has a different approach because it is for an architectural piece, instead of a web site or banner for example. I also enjoyed it because it is not only a list of the concepts for the designer process, but it is also the steps that this particular architectural design teams uses and wants to share with their customers. This shows those customers that they have a structured plan and as a customer you can know where you are in the time line of your design and build process. Although the design process is not exactly the same as the book, it uses the same concepts from beginning with a blank page and sketching out ideas, to ending with details helping to make the project personal to the audience.

D #7 HW #6 Copyright: examples and explanations - 0 views

  •
Includes a "Categories of Works" section discussion the types of works covered by copyright, such as literary works, musical and dramatic works, pantomimes and choreography, pictorial and graphic works, sculptures, films and other audiovisual works, sound recordings, and finally architectural works. Copyrighted works can fall into more than one category (a play is both a literary and dramatic work, for example) and the list is not exhaustive. A work that doesn't seem to fit into any of these categories could still be covered by copyright if it is "an original work of authorship." The chapter then covers each category in more detail. Literature, for example, is defined not just as novels and plays but also movie scripts, letters, email messages, blogs, computer programs, and even souvenir T-shirt messages. It also doesn't have to be tangible; a short story doesn't need to be published in physical format to be copyrighted.

Read the pages 65-75 those pages talke about the new media for architectue. For example, the new ways to sketch Coon designed a program 'sketchup' that the user can sit and on a computer pad sketch what they invision in into the computer. I think that the new media for design has gone a long way towards haveing CAD computer aided design.

This website focuses more on graphic design and the principle of balance rather than photography and architecture, which is what I have been bookmarking. Hope this one is as helpful!
