Nexans releases H2 2008 Results - 0 views

  •
Cable maker Nexans announced its H1 2008 financial statements on 24th July. The company reported H1 sales dropped by 6.28% year-on-year to €3,554M (US$5,572M) as a result of deliberate reduction of the external sales in the electrical wires business. Operating margin was €220M (US$345M), which is an increase of 18% from same period last year. H1 net income was €119M (US$187M), which was comparatively more stable than the other sectors due to less exposure to tax rate change. Nexans believes that the increased uncertainty in the economic environment had not affected its profitability as operating margin increased to its target amount. It also announced that it has abandoned the plan to sale its automotive cable harnesses business.

Nexans motion cables to provide solutions for industrial robots - 0 views

  • In addition to the high-technology and innovation demonstrated by the MOTIONLINE® cables, a key element in winning the contract was Nexans' own dedicated Motion Application Centre (MAC), which is part of the Nexans Research Centre (NRC) in Nuremberg. This facility, unique in the industry, enables cables to be exposed to dynamic operating loads that simulate realistic, in-service conditions, thus ensuring that they offer the ideal combination of bending, tension and torsional strength and vibration resistance required for their intended application.

France - Nexans announce H1 2011 results - sales up by 8.9% y-o-y - 1 views

  •
Nexans reported that it saw strong improvement in performance in H1 2011. The cable maker said that sales at current metal prices amounted to €2.3B in H1 2011, up by 8.9% y-o-y. Despite this, the company announced a pre-tax loss of €133M compared with a €5M profit in H1 2010. This was mainly attributed to the inclusion of a €200M reserve relating to an ongoing E.U. proceeding for alleged anticompetitive behaviour in the submarine and underground power cable sector. The company realised an organic growth over the period of 8.2% y-o-y and said that all business units exhibited growth, especially the Industry and Building unit. Nexans is targeting sales growth of between 5 and 7% for full year 2011.

Nexans CORE-TAG® anti-theft cable - 0 views

  • Usually when cable is stolen the insulation, which could be used to identify the owner, is burnt off the cable just leaving the copper conductor. In contrast to more complex and expensive tagging techniques such as those using rare earth elements, Nexans’ CORE-TAG® solution involves installing a coded fire-resistant copper tape that is intertwined in the conductor. The dot-matrix markings on the coded tape – typically identifying the owner (RFF in this case) – make it easy to trace the origins of the stolen copper when it is brought to a scrap dealer, even after the insulation has been burnt off.

Prysmian Group top in speciality cable survey - 1 views

  • "The Asian market has shown rapid growth, reaching US$1.8 billion in 2010," says Integer Research Director, Philip Radbourne. "Prysmian, Nexans, Leoni and General Cable dominate the market for specialty industrial cables. General Cable dominates North American, whilst Prysmian, Nexans and Leoni have expanded their operations from Western Europe into Asia." There are also a number of other producers of specialty cable, from Lapp, LS Cable, Fujikura, Furukawa Electric, through to TMC, Hien Electric, and Habia Cable. These companies have built market share in their niche products area on a regional basis. The same is true of leading Chinese shipboard cable maker Yuanyang (Yangzhou Marine Cable) "North America and Western Europe have shown the highest growth rates in the renewables markets - wind turbines and solar farms. However, Asia has been showing impressive growth in a range of end-use sectors. This certainly may explain Nexans and Prysmian's strategy of moving into the Middle East and Asia," says Sebastien Chu Ti, analyst at Integer Research.

Nexans announces its new governance structure and the acceleration of strategic actions - 0 views

  • While the long-term outlook is positive thanks to a number of powerful trends in today's society, including urbanization in developing countries, growing requirements for interconnection and the development of electrical infrastructure, and the global expansion of renewable energies, the short‑term outlook is more problematic. We expect growth to remain lackluster in Europe (apart from for certain niche products), and the recovery in the U.S. markets is likely to stay muted. Two thirds of the forecast growth in our markets for the next two to three years will come from emerging countries. The Group’s exposure to Europe and the USA of almost 60% and the persistent slowdown in South America and the Asia-Pacific region (Australia), have weighed on the Group’s performance over the last 18 months, and this trend is set to continue during the rest of 2014. In view of this situation, Nexans now forecasts sales to decrease by around 4% on an organic basis in the third quarter of 2014, and growth to be flat for the year as a whole.
