Prysmian Group strategy - 0 views

  • Over the past years Prysmian has been investing in the construction of the Vila Velha plants for umbilicals and flexible pipes with the aim of diversifying and further expanding its activities in the market of technology and products for the OG&P industry. The flexible pipes plant has complemented the umbilical plant, opened in 2007, and the addition of flexible pipes to its product range has enabled Prysmian to offer the OG&P industry a comprehensive range of SURF products (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines). Now thanks to the merger between Prysmian and Draka, the Group can rely also on two plants in North America, thus broadening the available range of products technology to special Down Hole Technology (DHT) systems (manufactured in Massachusetts and New Jersey) and creating interesting cross-selling opportunities to accelerate the business’s expansion also in new strategic areas such as ASEAN, Northern Europe and Western Africa.

Italy - Prysmian to develop and deliver new submarine HVDC Scotland-England p... - 0 views

  •
Prysmian Group, the industry leading cable and systems provider, won a contract worth a record-breaking €800M for the development of a high voltage DC submarine power transmission link between Scotland and England. The project will involve the use of at least 400km of a new Prysmian-developed cable product called Mass Impregnated PPL cables, which utilises new material technology to operate with a record longhaul wiring voltage rating of 600kV. This means that energy losses will be kept to a minimum, resulting in a low CO2 footprint for the supply of Scotland-sourced renewable energy for England and vice-versa (the link will be bidirectional). Commissioning is expected in late 2015.

Prysmian Group top in speciality cable survey - 1 views

  • "The Asian market has shown rapid growth, reaching US$1.8 billion in 2010," says Integer Research Director, Philip Radbourne. "Prysmian, Nexans, Leoni and General Cable dominate the market for specialty industrial cables. General Cable dominates North American, whilst Prysmian, Nexans and Leoni have expanded their operations from Western Europe into Asia." There are also a number of other producers of specialty cable, from Lapp, LS Cable, Fujikura, Furukawa Electric, through to TMC, Hien Electric, and Habia Cable. These companies have built market share in their niche products area on a regional basis. The same is true of leading Chinese shipboard cable maker Yuanyang (Yangzhou Marine Cable) "North America and Western Europe have shown the highest growth rates in the renewables markets - wind turbines and solar farms. However, Asia has been showing impressive growth in a range of end-use sectors. This certainly may explain Nexans and Prysmian's strategy of moving into the Middle East and Asia," says Sebastien Chu Ti, analyst at Integer Research.
