SIX PROPERTIES SIGNED with hihotels by Hospitality International in the second quarter of the year, all under Asian American owners. The new hotels are in Texas, Indiana, Maryland, Oregon and Pennsylvania. They join four other properties that, in the first quarter, joined hihotels' five brands; Red Carpet Inn, Scottish Inns, Master Hosts Inns, Downtowner Inns and Passport Inn. The new properties are: A Red Carpet Inn in Leavenworth, Indiana, owned by Katen Patel. A Red Carpet Inn in College Park, Maryland, former Econo Lodge, owned by Naginbhai Patel. A Red Carpet Inn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, former Travelodge, owned by Mahendra Patel. A Red Carpet Inn in Lester, Pennsylvania, former Econo Lodge, owned by Vinod Patel/Bharat 'Raj' Naik/Arav Naik. A Scottish Inns in Ashland, Oregon, former Rodeway Inn, owned by Bharat Lad. A Scottish Inns & Suites in Spring, Texas, former Econo Lodge, owned by Ketan Rama. The new hotels join 18 properties throughout the U.S. added in 2020, most owned by Asian American hoteliers, as are the four added this year. More hoteliers are expressing interest in the brand, said Guimbellot.

FOUR PROPERTIES JOINED the hihotels by Hospitality International portfolio during the first quarter. The new additions are in Maryland, Oregon and Texas and are all conversions. The four hotels signed or activated are: A former Econo Lodge turned Red Carpet Inn in College Park, Maryland, signed. A former Rodeway Inn turned Scottish Inns in Ashland, Oregon, signed and activated. A former Americas Best Value Inn turned Scottish Inns in DeSoto, Texas, activated. A former Econo Lodge turned Scottish Inns & Suites in Spring, Texas, signed. The five hihotels brands include Red Carpet Inn, Scottish Inns, Master Hosts Inns, Downtowner Inns and Passport Inn. Hospitality International said the brands' franchising model includes customized support, advanced technology and overall value.

URBAN PARK HOTELS recently introduced "Welcome Inns of America", a new membership-affiliated hotel and motel brand designed for the economy segment. The conversion-friendly option provides owners with many of the benefits and services of a franchise, Urban Park said, without the long-term commitment, upfront costs, ongoing fees or strict mandates. "Welcome Inns of America" offers simplified standards and a lower membership fee structure, not tied to property revenues like typical hotel franchises, Urban Park said in a statement. "The new brand is for hotel owners who are good operators but cannot afford the initial fees or renovation costs associated with a franchise-a segment that has been virtually ignored in the industry for years," said John Parkin, Welcome Inns of America's president.

CHARLOTTE-BASED MAYA HOTELS has acquired two Hampton Inn hotels in North Carolina and South Carolina. The two Hampton Inns boast a total of 210 guest rooms and are Maya Hotels' second and third acquisitions over the last six months, the company said in a statement. The hotels are the 100-room Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte-Arrowood Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the 110-room Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast-Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. Maya Hotels, led by JD Deva as CEO, acquired the hotels on March 11. The Charlotte property is near Carowinds Amusement Park and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The Columbia hotel is near U.S. Army Fort Jackson the University of South Carolina and downtown Columbia. Amenities at each hotel include outdoor pools, fitness centers, meeting spaces, and business centers. "We are excited to acquire these two top-branded assets at a discount to replacement cost," said Krishna Deva, vice president of Maya Hotels. "Charlotte and Columbia have historically been top markets for us, and we are thrilled to grow our presence in these two cities with such a strong brand affiliation." The acquired hotels complement Maya Hotels' existing footprint and will increase the current operating synergies the company has across North Carolina and South Carolina regions. The hotels will be renovated and managed by Maya Hotels. "We are so happy to continue growing our relationships with the Charlotte and Columbia communities, as well as with Hilton. We are also thankful to each of our investors and banking partners," said Deva. "The success of this transaction is a testament to our track record in the hospitality industry and our ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing lending environment. We look forward to bringing out the full potential of each of these properties with our hands-on management approach and the completion of major renovations at each property."

The Park Inn by Radisson Florence is open in Florence, South Carolina. It is owned and operated by Ankit Patel and is one of the first new-build Park Inns in the U.S. The 60-room hotel is six miles from Florence Regional Airport and near the city's downtown. Nearby attractions include the Florence Center, Francis Marion University Beaver Creek Golf Club, Timrod Park, the Florence County Museum and Darlington Raceway. Amenities include an indoor pool, a patio with fire pit and a fitness center. Radisson Hotel Groups' new Safety Protocol program has been implemented at the hotel featuring increased sanitation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

EVERGREEN HOSPITALITY DEVELOPMENT Group has selected the third-party management company Resolute Road Hospitality to oversee two of its Oregon hotel properties. These are the Hampton Inn & Suites Portland Tigard in Tigard and the Hampton Inn & Suites Sherwood Portland in Sherwood. The Hampton Inn & Suites Portland Tigard offers 152 rooms between Beaverton, Lake Oswego and downtown Portland. This property is close to downtown Portland, the Oregon Zoo and Washington Square shopping mall. The 73-room Hampton Inn & Suites Sherwood Portland provides lodging in Oregon's wine country. It's close to Sherwood Market Center, Stella Olsen Memorial Park, and various wineries including Ponzi Vineyards, Tualatin River and the National Wildlife Refuge.

Red Roof Inn Stroudsburg in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, is now open. The owner, 100 Park Ave LLC, led by Urvish Shah, recently invested $500,000 in renovations for the 58-room property situated near the Pocono Mountains. The pet-friendly hotel is in Stroudsburg's entertainment district, close to Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, Camelback Ski Resort, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Lafayette College, Pocono International Raceway and Jack Frost Ski Resort. Lehigh Valley International Airport is nearby. Two other Red Roof properties recently opened: Red Roof Inn Charlotte-Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, owned by Shree Shradhaa Saburi LLC, led by Kiran Patel, and Red Roof Inn Doswell-Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia, owned by SJ Hotel LLC, led by Nilang Maniarah.

Red Roof Inn Hutchins is now open in Hutchins, Texas. The 41-room hotel is owned and operated by Jay Patel as his first hospitality venture. Red Roof Inn Hutchins is close to Dallas and attractions including the Cold War Air Museum, Trinity River Audubon Center and Trinity Forest Adventure Park, Red Roof said in a statement. Red Roof Inn Hutchins is pet friendly and is part of the RediRewards program from Red Roof. The hotel also takes part in Red Roof's RediClean program. Patel was introduced to Red Roof by a friend and existing franchisee. "Red Roof's team has supported me throughout this project, from start to finish," Patel said. "Special thanks to Alex Shamsuddin, Red Roof's Regional Vice President of Franchise Sales, who collaborated closely with me to secure permits for the ideal location in Hutchins, Texas. The robust logistics industry in our county, coupled with other significant businesses and local attractions, sets our hotel up for success."

APERTURE HOTELS AND Satori Collective recently reopened the 120-room Hilton Garden Inn in Columbus, Georgia, following a multimillion-dollar renovation. The updates included public spaces, guestrooms, meeting space and fitness center, as well as parking improvements with EV charging stations. The full-service hotel also features an indoor pool with a hot tub and 3,500 square feet of flexible meeting space. Satori Collective is led by Andy Chopra as co-founder and managing partner. "With the completion of this full makeover, the Hilton Garden Inn Columbus now enjoys 'like-new' status, effectively making it the newest Hilton-branded hotel in Central Western Georgia," said Charles Oswald, Aperture Hotels' president and CEO. "We look forward to hosting a proper grand re-opening ceremony on Aug. 25 to fully embrace our position as a member of the community and to share our new offerings with guests and neighbors."

IRIDESCENT HOTELS OF Dallas has been contracted to manage two more hotels in Texas and Ohio. Iridescent was founded last year by Ash Patel, past chairman of AAHHOA, who leads the company with partner Christopher Puntureri. In the recent contract, Iridescent will manage the 111-room Holiday Inn & Suites San Antonio North Stone Oak in San Antonio, Texas, and the 75-room Red Roof Inn Dayton-Moraine, in Dayton, Ohio, as a third party on behalf of the hotels' owners. The San Antonio Holiday Inn is near San Antonio International Airport and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Also nearby are Microsoft, Baker Hughes, Tesoro, Schlumberger as well as 3 Hospitals which include NE Baptist, Methodist Stone Oak and North Central Baptist. The Red Roof Inn is near the University of Dayton and the University of Dayton Arena with the Industrial Park within walking distance. Additional attractions nearby include the Dayton Mall, Indiana Wesleyan University and the Dayton Convention & Visitors Bureau.

AURO HOTELS RECENTLY completed the renovation of the 132-room Hilton Garden Inn Orlando Airport in Orlando, Florida. The property is near Orlando International Airport as well as Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld Orlando, Crayola Experience Orlando, Gatorland Wild Animal Park and Kissimmee Lakefront Park. "We are so excited to welcome guests to our reinvented property focused on providing an outstanding product and service," said Michael Goldwasser, the hotel's general manager. "Our Hilton Garden Inn Orlando Airport team is committed to delivering genuine hospitality that provides real value to our guests. Auro Hotels, led by DJ Rama as president and CEO and based in Greenville, South Carolina, with offices in Atlanta and Surat, has developed, owned and operated 110 hotels over 50 years. The company currently owns 37 hotels and operates over 6,500 guestrooms in the U.S. and India under brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Richmond West is open in Midlothian, Virginia. It is owned by Shamin Hotels, led by CEO Neil Amin in Chester, Virginia. The 111-suite extended=stay hotel is near Johnston-Willis Hospital and 20 minutes from downtown Richmond. Other nearby attractions are Richmond Ice Zone, Huguenot Park, Chesterfield Towne Center and River City Sportsplex. The pet-friendly hotel's amenities include a meeting room, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center. "When on the road for an extended period, our guests need space to spread out, maintain their life's pace and restore their energy to keep a healthy balance and routine while traveling. This new hotel offers a seamless blend of modern style and functionality that allows them to settle in and thrive," said Diane Mayer, vice president and global brand manager for Residence Inn at Marriott International.

AURO HOTELS RECENTLY ACQUAIRED the Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Buckhead/Lenox Park. Hunter Hotel Advisors helped broker the deal, which it said is another example of the strength of the extended-stay segment that has been seeing increased interest from major hotel companies such as Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The 150-room Residence Inn is in Atlanta's upscale Buckhead neighborhood near shopping and dining outlets, such as Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza, according to Hunter. Also, the hotel is across from AT&T corporate offices. "We are thrilled that the stars aligned on this acquisition - a smooth process with a highly professional seller, another collaboration with a trusted equity partner, and a further expansion of our relationship with Marriott," said D.J. Rama, CEO of Auro Hotels. "With the expertise brought by our investment, operations and design and construction resources, we believe strongly in the property's future performance potential."

CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL has completed its acquisition of Radisson Hotels Americas for $675 million. The transaction includes Radisson's franchise business, operations and intellectual property. The merger, which was announced in June, will add Radisson's nine brands to Choice, bringing it to 624 hotels. "With the close of this transaction, Choice Hotels International has added approximately 67,000 rooms, expanding its presence in the higher revenue upper upscale and upscale full-service segments, and bolstering its core upper-midscale hospitality segment, particularly in the West Coast and Midwest of the U.S.," the company said in a statement. As part of the transaction, which covers properties in Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the U.S., Choice will independently own and control the brands in the Americas and will work with Radisson to drive the growth, continuity and success of the brands, according to a joint press release from the companies. Choice's board of directors unanimously approved the transaction, and it was expected to close in the second half of 2022. It was funded by cash on hand and revolver borrowings and includes 10 Radisson Blu hotels, 130 Radisson hotels, 9 Radisson Individuals, 1 Park Plaza hotel, 4 Radisson RED hotels, 453 Country Inn & Suites by Radisson and 17 Park Inn by Radisson hotels, as well as the recently launched Radisson Inn & Suites and Radisson Collection brands.

Choice's board of directors unanimously approved the transaction and is expected to close in the second half of 2022, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing requirements. The transaction is not anticipated to change Choice's current capital allocation strategy related to dividend payment policy and planned share repurchases.

PEACHTREE HOTEL GROUP added seven hotels to its portfolio this week for $135 million. Three of the hotels also are part of Peachtree's third investment partnerships with San Mateo, California-based Verakin Capital led by partners Rupesh and Bimal Patel and Hiten Suraj. The new acquisitions include 829 rooms and are in five different states, according to Peachtree and its management division Peachtree Hospitality Management, which will operate all seven hotels. The new hotels are: The dual-brand Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park, 120 rooms, and Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park, 108 rooms, in Tempe, Arizona, which were built in 2017. Aloft Hillsboro-Beaverton in Hillsboro, Oregon, 137 rooms, built in 2017. Hilton Garden Inn Casper, 121 rooms in Casper, Wyoming, built in 2008. Home2 Suites by Hilton Eugene Downtown University Area, in Eugene, Oregon, 120 rooms, built in 2016. Home2 Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh/McCandless in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 119 rooms, built in 2013. Hilton Garden Inn West Lafayette Wabash Landing in West Lafayette, Indiana, 104 rooms, built in 2003.

Red Roof Inn Del Rio in Del Rio, Texas, is now open after a $2 million renovation. The 100-room property is owned by Del Hospitality, led by Timirkumar Patel. The hotel is near downtown Del Rio, Laughlin Air Force Base, Val Verde Regional Medical Center, Amistad National Recreation Area, Plaza Del Sol Mall, Whitehead Memorial Museum, Val Verde Winery, Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site, San Felipe Natural Spring Park and San Felipe Springs Golf Course. Del Rio International Airport also is nearby. The pet-friendly hotel has a year-round outdoor pool and participates in RediRewards and Red Roof's RediClean program for guest and staff safety.

The Red Roof Inn La Marque in La Marque, Texas, is now open after a $700,000 renovation. The 150-room property is owned by Kenny Group LLC, led by Jignesh Patel. The hotel is near historic downtown La Marque, Galveston Island State Park, Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn, Gulf Greyhound Park, Texas City Premiere Lux 12+ Cinemas, HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland and Galveston County Fair & Rodeo. William P. Hobby Airport also is near. Amenities at the pet-friendly hotel include meeting facilities, a year-round outdoor pool, and an on-site bar and lounge. The hotel also participates in RediRewards and Red Roof's RediClean program for guest and staff safety.

The Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Pierre is now open in Pierre, South Dakota. It is owned by Pramukhraj Pierre ownership group led by Yogin Patel as principal. The 53-room, recently renovated hotel is near Pierre Regional Airport, the South Dakota State Capitol, the LaFramboise Island Nature Area on the Missouri River, the Steamboat Park amphitheatre and the South Dakota Discovery Center. Hotel guests will find themselves within walking distance of as well as numerous downtown restaurant options. Those seeking to explore the outdoors have no shortage of activities to choose from, with seasonal fishing, cross-country skiing, biking, hiking and birdwatching options available via the nearby and.
