How to use Topo Maps in Trainz by colorado71 A. USING OF GLOBAL MAPPER 1. Configuration of Global Mapper Install Global Mapper on your computer. Download custom_shaders rar from http://trainz.uv.ro/tutorial/files/custom_shaders.rar Unpack the archive and copy the file custom_shaders.txt in the installation folder of Global Mapper. Run Global Mapper and select the option spectrum_trainz from "shader" bar on the program's tool bar. 2. Georeference your topo map Select the map (scanned map, satellite image, topo map etc.) you want to reproduce in trainz. You must know the geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) of two points on it, so you can georeference it with Global Mapper. From the File Menu of Global Mapper select "Rectify (Georeference) Imagery" click OK and select your image. Open it and the dialog box "Image Rectifier" will appear. Zoom the image over the first point of which coordinates you know, select it, insert its latitudinal and longitudinal position as __/__/___ (for example 21/38/45) and press "add GCP to list." Proceed in the same manner with the second point. Save the image as GeoTIFF. 3. Select your future trainz map a) Open the map thus created with GlobalMapper. From the File Menu select "Export Raster and Elevation Data" - "Export GeoTIFF." In the dialog box which appear select "Export Bounds" and press "Draw a Box." Select the area of your future trainz map and save it as GeoTIFF. b) From the File Menu select "Download Online Imagery/Topo/Terrain Maps" (or simple open the DEM map for the area of your image map). Select the server from which you want to download the digital elevation map (http://seamless.usgs.gov/ or http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/ for example) and then press OK. From the File Menu select "Export Raster and Elevation Data" - "Export DEM," then select "Export Bounds" in the dialog box, and finally, press "Reset to Last Exported Bounds." B. USING OF MICRODEM 1.

trigger rule for junction switch - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

a session contains all trains and industry instructions etc. If you open the route only as long as you do not delete, rename or alter a sequence that the session uses it will be fine. You can add scenery, texture, create new areas of the route and save. the session will still work. Open your existing session then save it as a different name (Default rule). Now delete all the trains and you are left with only the rules you set up. Save this as the default rule session. When you open this next time all the rules you set up are ready to go without having to redo them, just add trains for a new session and save under a different name in order that the default rule session is not altered. Uploading the route and the default rule session gives everyone the basic setup __________________ http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php...textsearchID=1

A Busy Day at Union Station - 0 views

I normally create these routes for Virtual Railroader without any custom material so that you will not need to download additional material. For this route there are three items that are custom made, and which are available from the Trainz Download Station (DLS). I have added them to this route to enhance your enjoyment. They are all parts of one unit called a "Signal Box with Interior View." I wrote an article in the 1 May 04 issue of VMRJ entitled "Thinking Inside the Box" that details the use of the Signal Box. It might help to read that article and get an understating on how the Signal Box is installed and used. The Signal Box was first created by Jetstreamsky and then updated for TRS2006 by Alex23. The KUID numbers below are for the updated unit. Signal Box With Interior View kuid:193148:1198 SignalBox Interior kuid:193148:1196 Signal Box Telegraph Office Clock kuid:193148:1197

  • Not to sure why the routes you are downloading have so many "missing assets". I rarely have this problem. One solution might be to change your settings in CMP. In CMP go to FILE - SETTINGS - MICELLANEOUS and untick "Suppress Asset Warning in Trainz" Make sure "Automatically commit" is ticked also. Next time you try an run a route that you know has missing assets, make sure you are connected to the internet. Before the route loads you should get a screen that give you the opportunity to "find missing assets". Click on that and your system will open CMD and try and find the missing assets. If those missing assets are on the download station it should find them, and you should be able to download them. If they not on the download station/CMP you will then have to try and find them on third party sites. Which can be very frustrating.............. Cheers, Mac.
  • The small G&D is mine. I don't remember if I put a run around in Daphetid. I don't think so because the prototype didn't have one, and there's no turntable up there anyway. I assure you, if you put some track there for a runaround, you won't hurt my feelings. Enjoy yourself. If you download a layout and you don't like it, you can delete it in Content Manager. You should also get Trainz Object. It works great for TRS04. I'm not sure how I lived without it. Click on my link below and check out my toys. I also did the Minato Railway, which was the first Japanese prototype on the DLS. We didn't have nearly as much Japanese content back then, but I think it came out okay. I'm also still fond of the Furuya layout and Makatini Junction. (both fictional) Claude
  • c. a centerpiece of all but the Mad River route is the 16 portals and the opportunities they give for introducing plenty of challenge in operations against a steady movement of trains that have priority over yours.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • I find the Niddertalbahn one of the best routes made for the simulator.
  • "Ffestiniog Railway." Narrow gauge, very enjoyable to operate.

Trainz/Removing Unwanted Assets - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks - 0 views

  • The only problem is that you may delete a dependency that's used by another route. You won't find out until you look at all the routes you have installed and look for the missing dependency flag (or try to load the route). One way of reducing the impact is to archive the route and its dependencies (create a new archive for deleted routes). Carry on as before - deleting everything - if you need a deleted asset CMP will pull it from the archive. Once

Aotearoa113 V2 UTC route update. - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • This is an updated version of sirgibby UTC HO scale route, Aotearoa113 located at http://www.trainzone.co.nz/layouts.htm Some of the modifications include replacing the default auran track with better looking higher looking track. I also replaced the almost all scenery, and made the route fully interactive. I also recorded and added a sound script. Only 2 other routes I know of make use of that ability in trainz and they are both payware. The route has 1930’s style traffic and built for steam operations. But you may run anything almost without it looking to out of place. Also the main line and yard is modeled PRR style stuff but again you can run almost anything without it looking to out of place.

Looking for a layout - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

Hey Boomer, you can also try kuids 207998:3591 and 207998:3602, which were later versions, BEWARE, read the information carefully to make sure you have the SG versions and which way round you have to merge the maps to get the full route. I played with it quite a bit before I obtained TC3, it's a fabulous route when you have it all set up.

Can a scenario be created WITHOUT the ability for drivers to control trains? - Trainz D... - 0 views

The route can be modified if you do want to sit back and watch it all happen under programmed AI. All that you need to do is start at one extremity of the AI route. I'd suggest at Portal cH:

I'm a little biased, but if you want routes that look and behave in a reasonably prototypical way, try: Port Ogden & Northern (see the screen shotz in this forum). IndustRail. RiversideRailroadCompany. All are on the Auran Trainz Download Station, all will install without any missing dependencies, and there are sessions for all of them. Phil
