    This brand new FREE service provides excellent news-style current event articles on a variety of topics that are written at multiple levels of text complexity. You can adjust the Lexile level of the text with a few clicks! Teachers can create student accounts and assign texts. Each text has a built in quiz linked to CCSS standards. This tool should be very valuable for any teacher trying to meet CCSS standards for informational texts while addressing differentiated reading needs among her students.     Readworks.org is a reputable source of excellent lesson plans and reading passages focused on teaching reading comprehension.  This fall, they are developing over 1000 new CCSS aligned and Lexile-leveled non-fiction and literary passages and question sets.  This free resource will be an excellent supplement for teachers.

    Excellent free units made available from Odell Education. Units on Close Reading and making evidence based claims for grade 6-12 are available here. All materials are included including the texts. Each unit is designed to be 3 weeks long. The materials and models here are very well aligned to Common Core standards and could serve as excellent models for teachers adapting to teaching the new standards.
