quietube | Video without the distractions | Youtube, Viddler, Vimeo and more - 1 views

This is a great website to use with students.  Youtube is a wonderful resource however, my main complaint is that after you view a video - youtube lists "videos you may like".  There have been times when the videos on this list are inappropriate.  I like how quitetube eliminates all videos except the video the user has requested.

Natural Reader - 0 views

This resource has many uses in the classroom.  It can be used with pre-readers as well as those who are having reading challenges.  The voice that reads is very clear and I like how the word being read is highlighted. This makes it very easy for students to follow along.

Tux Paint is a free open-source paint program for children.  It allows children to draw pictures, use already established "stamps" and add text.  This program is a favorite with my students and allows children of all levels and ability to create unique and wonderful projects. Tux Paint is a great way to introduce students to multimedia.

Enchanted Learning is a website that is very student friendly.  It contains research information in a child friendly environment.  My students use Enchanted Learning when working on Webquests.  It is a great one-stop website for information.  The  information is presented in a very visual way that my students enjoy.  Also, Enchanted Learning has a visual dictionary which can be very helpful for students struggling to read.

VoiceThread - Conversations in the cloud - 0 views

  •
VoiceThread is a great site for students to use when giving oral presentations.  I like VoiceThread because students can upload a PowerPoint presentation or any type of image and then comment on it.  This removes the nervousness or embarrassment that some students may feel when standing in front of others.  VoiceThread allows these students to create and edit their recording - giving them confidence.

Strategy Tutor - 0 views

This website is perfect for students to learn how to conduct research and organize their findings.  I really like the weblog and how it keeps the student's comments together with the URL.  I also like how the teacher lists predetermined websites for the students to explore - this helps to keep the students on track and focused.

Hi Joe, I think Strategy Tutor can be used for all ages. I set up an account last week and went through the installation process. FYI - it only works with Firefox. The site has many lesson plans that other teachers have uploaded to the database. The lesson plans range from Grade 1 through Grade 12. I think it would be a great fit for elementary students because it allows you to control what websites they visit - which helps keep them on task and safe. Thanks for posting! Marianne

Spec-Ed Tech Seen as Potentially Beneficial for All Students - 1 views

Great article about Assistive Technology and how it can be beneficial to all students - not just Special Education.  I liked the article's definition of Universal Design - "adding layers of support that are necessary for a few people but can be used by everybody"
