Netsmartz - 0 views

  •
Internet safety for elementary and middle school.
  •
I've used Netsmartz for years with kids. Before I allow kids to use the internet in my classroom, I show the little video with the characters that all coordinate with the different internet dangers. I don't know how much you've dug into the site but there is also a contract that you can have them and their parents sign. It has them swear to abide by safety rules, as well as not bully while online.
  •
We have dug in deep. I run the elementary and middle school programs at the beginning and the middle of the year. I also have a night where I run it for the parents. The kids always seem to know more and the parents leave a lot more aware of what their child is doing on their devices.

Teachers create a page that asks students if they understand the topic or are confused. The teacher gets real time feedback.
  •
After trying this website with my 6th grade technology class it did not work how it was advertised and previewed. I would not use this.

Dropbox - 0 views

  •
A cross-platform "folder" that allows you to have access to any file that is put into your dropbox folder from any computer or smartphone. I think that this would be a great resource in the English classroom so that students will always have access to their papers and will no longer be able to use the "I forgot it" or "My dog ate it" excuses.
  •
Invaluable tool for kids to get their writing from home to class and for teachers if you have different computers that you work at
  •
My school just recently started using dropbox. Ity looked complicated, but once I started to use it, it was a great resource. Great for planning long term.

State standards laid out very clearly - 0 views

  •
    New Common core standards
  •
There are a lot of Common Core websites out there, which can be deceiving. Make sure your state and subject are clear if you are getting information for lesson plans off of it. This one is actually really good.

This website is a great website for kid friendly interactive games and slideshows dealing with science. It includes activities for plants, weather, insects, wind, insects, food, and volcanoes. I would recommend this site for elementary students and teachers. It's very easy to navigate.

A word cloud site much like wordle put with many more options/demtions of customization. Word clouds can be a poweful tool to use with students as they allow many words and ideas about a topic to come together and highlight the most important ones by increasing their size. I use them with studetns to decribe characters, record learning, brainstorm ideas
  •
A lot like Wordle but you can import shapes so it can match the subject area

This website has so many great resources for younger students. I am currently using this website for math when my students are reviewing their 2D and 3D shapes. I also let my students use this program if they finish their work early.
  •
    Interactive educational website for students
  •
I like the seasonal and holiday activities that this site offers. Also, I like the read-a-long books that students can work through at their own pace.
  •
A website that helps elemetary students and English Language Learners to read. They can read along with the website or the website can read to them.
