Information on experiment -Conformity is the tendency to adjust one's thoughts, feelings, and behavior, in a way that agrees with a certain individual or group or with standards about how one should behave in a particular situation. Asch investigated conformity through his study of majority influence (1951). He aimed to understand to what extent a person would conform to an incorrect answer on a test if the response from other members of the group (also taking the test), was unanimous. Within the experiment the participant was asked to choose the line from the group which matched the length of the single line on the other card. The goal was to see whether or not the participant would conform to the confederates' incorrect responses, even if it was clear their answers were correct. At the end of the experiment it was found that a majority of the participants agreed with the smart looking confederates at least once.
