Teaching the Civil War through Techology - 0 views

  •
I am going to offer a unit on the Civil War and its impact on World History in my World History class (mostly 10th graders) for the first time. They quit teaching about the Civil War in US History that students take as juniors in our district, and I think they need more than what they got in 7th grade. Just saying! I think this blog I added to my RSS will be a great help.

It would also help if I spelled Technology correctly (:

Sioux Falls just bought Chromebooks for all their students- I wish we could do a pilot here in Rapid! I just bought a 200.00 Acer Chromebook for myself as I have never had my own laptop. I didn't know what to expect but so far so good and can't beat the price! This site will help me learn how to use it more effectively. ( I hope (: )

"Webster's defines kaffeeklatsch as "an informal gathering to drink coffee and chat." I feel it is a perfect analogy for a blog! (And you are welcome even if you don't drink coffee!) I will be posting thoughts, discoveries, and ideas here as I discover them, primarily on educational technology topics, and I invite you to do the same! "

"My students love it! It really challenges them to master the concepts. I told one of my students to change to another topic so she could practice for the upcoming tests, and she said, 'No, wait! I want to get to 100% first!' I have never seen her more motivated to succeed!"

Education World: Wire Side Chat: Top Teacher Ties History to Current Events - 0 views

  • It's hard to pinpoint a few priorities as an educator, because there are endless goals every teacher has for every class and even every student. If I had to name a few main priorities I have, I would say: inspiring a strong work ethic and independence in students; ensuring that students master essential skills and become very knowledgeable about the content of study; helping students to recognize their talents and power to make positive change; and encouraging a passion for learning and social justice.
  •
A good way to incorporate current events and English elements into the social studies classroom
  •
    Great current events ideas.
