Top Ed-Tech Trends of 2012: The Flipped Classroom - 0 views

  •
Author describes the concept of "flipped classroom" and then lists some tools to create a "flipped classroom". Benefit - evaluating how time is used in classroom, hands on learning. Criticism - homework is second shift and there is little research on how much they get out of homework. Basically, the author believes "flipped classroom" is not using video, but learning focused around student needs instead of teacher focused content.

Khan Academy: Great Idea - With One Glaring Hole - 0 views

  •
The author likes the concept of web learning, but feels the content is missing from Khan Academy. The students need to see their own teachers style, teachers own example of how to work through, own teachers mastering technology and online publish, and this needs to happen faster.

The Flipped Classroom: Pro and Con - 1 views

  •
The author thinks that the "flipped classroom" is forcing teachers to reflect on their practice and how they reach their students. It inspires teachers to change how they do things and motivating them to bring technology into the classroom. The Pro is students can go at their own pace, review what they need, teacher able to spend more time with students who need help, and missed lessons can be viewed. The Con is access to technology, students spending more time in front of a screen, and not everyone learns through video.

For $39.95/year you can become a member as a parent or a teacher. You don't have to be a member to play the daily games like word search, sudoko, quiz, and interactive playground. It seems like this website focuses on improving the mind, and is geared for students from preschool through 7th grade and up.

This seems like a good website to learn or review math. There is no cost to the website, and unlimited practice allows for mastery of the subject, and there is immediate feedback. It is sorted by grade on top - K through 8 and then sorted by subject on the side.
