Volcano Explorer - 1 views

This instructional website makes it so much fun to learn everything about volcanoes. It gets students actively involved with learning by a few features. First, the interactive tutorials engage students by providing the graphic information of volcanoes, including the global perspective, volcano types, and geological structures inside a volcano. Second, the site has a fun game to have student build their own volcano and watch it erupt with vivid sound effect. The game is highly interactive and rich in contents. All of the features of the website have incorporated many footnotes of learning material, which really helps student to understand the subject.

This site has hundreds of educational games in the subjects of literacy, math and science. It has learning videos on subjects like the plant life cycle, frog life cycle, the five senses, and much more with review games you can play afterward. It has lesson plans, free printable worksheets, arts and crafts coloring pages, and a cute blog. The only drawback is that the games are all narrated with a robotic voice. Other than that, it's a good website for kids!

Oxford Owl is a FREE and easy-to-use website that has been built with teachers and parents. It is packed with helpful advice from motivating boys to reading eBooks. It is especially a great tool to keep up with reading in the holidays, playing fun activities, and going over familiar characters that kids know from school. I found this website really helpful for busy parents who don't have much time to read books for their kids. There are over 100 free eBooks on the site.

Writing Chinese Character (Hanzi) is very challenging for English speaking people. Skritter makes it fun and easy to practice writing Hanzi with a computer mouse. The stroke-by-stroke feedback guides learners through the whole process of Hanzi-writing. If you make an error it helps you right away before you've completed a character. However, it's subscription-based service and the monthly subscription for Skritter is $15 (or $180/ year).

Parents and teachers will find tons of resources for teaching children in this site. The main contents in the site are learning games, activities, education video clips, and fun quizzes on various subjects, which are appropriate for children ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade. The library of videos is very impressive, with more than 9,000 video clips in total on the Learning Zone Class. The video is ready to play in any computers at school or at home. However, the site seems to be very slow, with many video taking a long time to load, and a majority of them can not be accessed in the U.S area.

This website is the largest one-stop professional educational portal in Hong Kong. It is operated by the Hong Kong Education City Limited, a subsided company by the Hong Kong government. The portal incorporates information, teaching resources, interactive communities of teachers, and online services that are free to teachers. The main service of the site is to provide the use of information technology to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning. The site is of great value not only to the Chinese teachers, but to all of the K-12 educators of other subjects. The website is constructed bilingually, so both Chinese and English users will find it easy to use.

A great place for Chinese teachers to share their teaching experiences and resources. It has a collection of professional blogs, forums, e-learning classes, training courses, and E-book stores. All of the information can be used to better learning and teaching Chinese. However, the website is constructed in Chinese. That means one will have to have some levels of Chinese reading to be able to browse through the site.
