  I feel that I have discovered a better understanding of the value of discussion boards from my experience in EdTech classes. The discussion boards in my classes are used efficiently to collaborate with others and to gain valuable insight into a particular topic by reading and discussing others' experiences and knowledge.
  As I teach PreK at a PreK center (we have no other grade levels), I see the use of discussion boards on my campus as a great tool to use with other teachers rather than with the students. On my campus, we have staff development every day, which leads to very little collaboration time with each other (aside from the topics the principal presents each afternoon). Discussion boards would allow the teachers to collaborate on their own time, without actually having to be present at a meeting. The biggest challenge on my campus would be getting the teachers comfortable enough using the technology to participate in meaningful collaboration. Many of the teachers on my campus are still very scared of technology.
