I have to agree with team A as well. Technology is on the rise. Many thing are created daily to adjust for the literacy skills. With the way things are going you can do nothing but adjust. Team A cited properly compared to team B, and had access to more follow up, up to date resources. Also steered to technology more than just slang. Literacy is a responsibility as they stated by Team A "technology is expanding the definition of what literacy means, as well as what it means to be literate"(Watt, 2010). To act and be literate properly with such a changing age it has to be accommodated for. Success shows With Team A, to be with socials networks, internet and texting. Enjoyed reading both, makes researching and studying more defined and interesting toward what is taught in knowledge to a new age with the same literacy.

As good as this debate was we have to agree with Team A . Technology is on the rise. Many thing are created daily to adjust for the literacy skills. With the way things are going you can do nothing but adjust. Team A cited properly compared to Team B, and had better access to more executable follow up resources that supported the subject both older and recent. Also steered to technology more than just slang. Literacy is a responsibility. "Technology is expanding the definition of what literacy means, as well as what it means to be literate" Team A. (2014, July 18) Misinformation debate. Retrieved from https://course.fso.fullsail.edu/class_sections/37673/discussions/149782 Inspired from, "Proposed effects on literacy. There is research that shows that computer use may encourage the development of general cognitive skills that, in turn, should support the development of higher order language and literacy skills." Subrahmanyam, K., Greenfield, P., Kraut, R., & Gross, E. (2001). The impact of computer use on children's and adolecents' development. Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, 22, 7-30 Retrieved from http://www.asha.org/uploadedFiles/asha/publications/cicsd/2010F-Use-of-Modern-Communication-Technology.pdf With that plus many more in Team As' conclusion, going into depth of what we were really able to see. To act and be literate properly with such a changing age it has to be accommodated for. Success shows with Team A, to be with socials networks, internet and texting. With technology changing so rapidly, you can increase literacy skills if you can enjoy and accept the responsibility of this changing digital age. We all enjoyed reading both inputs', very strong to think hard about. Makes researching and studying more defined and interesting toward what is taught in knowledge to a new age with the same literacy.

Digital Literacy | The Principal of Change - 0 views

  • One reason students phone in their school assignments – and only halfheartedly copy edit and research them – is that they’re keenly aware that there’s no “authentic audience.” Only the teacher is reading it. In contrast, academic studies have found that whenever students write for other actual, live people, they throw their back into the work – producing stuff with better organization and content, and nearly 40 per cent longer than when they write for just their instructor.
  • Develop proficiency with the tools of technology Build relationships with others to pose and solve problems collaboratively and cross-culturally Design and share information for global communities to meet a variety of purposes Manage, analyze and synthesize multiple streams of simultaneous information Create, critique, analyze, and evaluate multi-media texts Attend to the ethical responsibilities required by these complex environments Although I agree with all of the above (the importance of creativity should be emphasized in some manner though), I do believe that we have to drop the term “21st Century” when describing the above. Should this not just be a part of ‘literacy’?  Are using these tools that we have to create and communicate not just a part of being literate in our world?  You even see terms like “digital literacy” being thrown around often. Do we speak of pencil literacy? Paper literacy?  Or do we talk about components of what makes up literacy (reading and writing)?

The effect of text messaging on 9- and 10-year-old children's reading, spelling and pho... - 0 views

  • However, within the mobile phone group, there was evidence that use of text abbreviations was positively related to gains in literacy skills.
  • These results show that text messaging does not adversely affect the development of literacy skills within this age group, and that the children's use of textisms when text messaging is positively related to improvement in literacy skills, especially spelling.
