Can we outline the responsibilities and to do list? Was hoping we could get a clearer idea of how we are going to execute this assignment.

My understanding is once we receive both teams cases, we have to decide which team made the stronger case. Then we have to show why the articles used by the winning team are stronger and why the articles by the losing team were weaker. One possibility is each member from our team can pick one article and explain why is strengthened or weakened their case. I'm assuming there are more than enough articles for at least one for each member of our team. Then someone can put it all together and write a conclusion for our case.

So I gave both submissions a once over and I am currently leaning more towards Team A. They put more material into their arguments, resulting in both a longer block of text (without it becoming rambling and incoherent), hit on several points but focused on one and used much more professional writing voice. Team B, while not bad by any means, used 2nd person voice at the end of the argument, inserted internet slang and then proceeded to illustrate why internet slang was bad, and really only touched on one point in their argument. It's definitely a close race, but Team A's argument ultimately has more meat to it and is more capably executed. Obviously this is just the opinion of one person, but that's my two cents at the moment.

I have to agree with team A as well. Technology is on the rise. Many thing are created daily to adjust for the literacy skills. With the way things are going you can do nothing but adjust. Team A cited properly compared to team B, and had access to more follow up, up to date resources. Also steered to technology more than just slang. Literacy is a responsibility as they stated by Team A "technology is expanding the definition of what literacy means, as well as what it means to be literate"(Watt, 2010). To act and be literate properly with such a changing age it has to be accommodated for. Success shows With Team A, to be with socials networks, internet and texting. Enjoyed reading both, makes researching and studying more defined and interesting toward what is taught in knowledge to a new age with the same literacy.

As good as this debate was we have to agree with Team A . Technology is on the rise. Many thing are created daily to adjust for the literacy skills. With the way things are going you can do nothing but adjust. Team A cited properly compared to Team B, and had better access to more executable follow up resources that supported the subject both older and recent. Also steered to technology more than just slang. Literacy is a responsibility. "Technology is expanding the definition of what literacy means, as well as what it means to be literate" Team A. (2014, July 18) Misinformation debate. Retrieved from https://course.fso.fullsail.edu/class_sections/37673/discussions/149782 Inspired from, "Proposed effects on literacy. There is research that shows that computer use may encourage the development of general cognitive skills that, in turn, should support the development of higher order language and literacy skills." Subrahmanyam, K., Greenfield, P., Kraut, R., & Gross, E. (2001). The impact of computer use on children's and adolecents' development. Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, 22, 7-30 Retrieved from http://www.asha.org/uploadedFiles/asha/publications/cicsd/2010F-Use-of-Modern-Communication-Technology.pdf With that plus many more in Team As' conclusion, going into depth of what we were really able to see. To act and be literate properly with such a changing age it has to be accommodated for. Success shows with Team A, to be with socials networks, internet and texting. With technology changing so rapidly, you can increase literacy skills if you can enjoy and accept the responsibility of this changing digital age. We all enjoyed reading both inputs', very strong to think hard about. Makes researching and studying more defined and interesting toward what is taught in knowledge to a new age with the same literacy.

I proofread this and sent it to you on the FSO platform Chris. I agree with it.

I agree with what you said. The main point for me was Team B didn't show the correlation between growth in technology and increase in slang/decrease in literacy. They quote a teacher who says literacy has gone down due to students use of social networks but they don't explain how. They showed a stat saying 85% of students between 12-17 use electronic communication but they don't explain how or why it causes these kids to use more slang.

Team A was much clearer as to how exactly technology was being used to increase literacy in students. For the example with "Reading Buddies" which used mp3's and Twitter which forces people to be more concise in their writing. That was the main difference for me, both teams had ample evidence but only Team A successfully showed how that evidence supports their argument.
