25/4/08 - Excellent new citizenship site with lesson plans and resources, kids' zone and parents' area. The overarching theme is on engaging with society.
23/4/08 - Yahoo-powered Search Engine that buys two trees for every 1,000 searches. They offset the carbon whilst providing Yahoo search results - not bad at all.
20/4/08 - Gives randomised charcters and events for creative writing stimulus. I won't use this with children because some of the scenarios might elicit too many awkward questions. I will probably collate the more relevant and appropriate ones at home. Looks good though!
19/4/08 - Satire on current attitudes in education. This is US-orientated, but the sentiments definitely apply. Take, for example, the introductory paragraph:
"All teams must make the state playoffs, and all will win the championship. If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable."
19/4/08 - Onscreen tutorials on most aspects of ICT curriculum - very clear and easy to follow. Potentially suitable for advanced Y4+ or even as a refresher for teachers (it doesn't patronise).
19/4/08 - spellingcity.com is superb! The best feature is the fact that you can generate your own list and ask it to test your pupils. You then hear your spelling list words spoken (choose individually or in a sentence). There are also thousands of saved spelling lists for each year group and for many different themes. Great stuff!
