Fantastic online encyclopedia and dictionary; combines the best features of Wikipedia with several other reference sites.

Not just a free dictionary but also encyclopaedia and thesaurus.

Lots of resources but some need a password. Planning and tracking information useful but possibly outdated - e.g. references to NNS.

25/8/08 - Very comprehensive, I will be using this along with the Kent NGfL version.

1/3/08 - type in the meaning / defintion and it tells you the word you're thinking of.

You can also get it to generate lists (e.g. large birds) and explore related concepts (e.g. football).

An interesting look at promoting better thinking. Although some of the ideas are unorthodox they are all useful and/or thought provoking.

15/8/07 - A great collection of links to library and education resources.

18/08/07 - Pared down search engine which returns only definitions of words, phrases or acronyms. Could easily be used by children
