PBS Teachers | Dinosaur Train - 0 views

  • DINOSAUR TRAIN embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains. The series encourages basic scientific thinking skills as the audience learns about life science, natural history and paleontology. Each of the 40 half-hour episodes features Buddy, an adorable preschool age Tyrannosaurus Rex, and his adoptive Pteranodon family as they board the DINOSAUR TRAIN and embark on whimsical voyages through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans. The episodes include two 11-minute animated stories, along with brief live action segments hosted by renowned paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson, that unearth basic concepts in life science, natural history and paleontology.

This is a great teaching resource for History teachers. It shares some great ideas about lesson plans, projects, activities, etc.

I found this useful website that has many links and sources for history teachers trying to incorporate technology into their classes. They seem to provide quite a bit of support. I think I will like this site.

This is a great website for history teachers. It provides a comprehensive guide to teaching history with various types of technology. It includes different links to websites that provide technological lesson plans and activities, most of which I found could be very useful in a history classroom. The site also gives ideas on creating presentations and using multimedia in the classroom. Another great feature the site provides is the ability to discuss and collaborate with other history teachers - it provides blogs, Wikis, and even Google docs.

Great example of what I think is a student video project on the Giver. An example of how video projects can be used to show student understanding of a book's themes.

A good example of a social studies video project from Brittany. The music gets too loud and distracting at one point, but if the audio was improved, I like how she gave a good analysis of a social studies topic and then showed good examples.

Here's an excellent website for teaching kids creativity, literacy (storytelling and spelling) and technology! Check out the make a movie feature, where kids as young as kindergartners can learn the basics of basically Flash, by learning about objects, timelines, and actions. Very cool!
