    A helpful set of topics in the bar to get you started with Diigo.  There is an iPad version but the greatest functionality is on your laptop or desktop.  You will need to install the web highlighter which comes as a toolbar.  Tags and bookmarks, along with highlighting and sticky notes represent the main features of Diigo.

    Prof Neil Mercer spoke at the NIE conference in Singapore (Jun 2013) Inspiring talk - with quite a simple message: (paraphrasing) Humans are social beings - brains have evolved to work well with others. However, group work has to be well planned and involve 'exploratory talk' if it is going to make a difference.

    Hmmm, yes, very interesting. I also see increasing evidence that the brain isn't the all controlling factor we have assumed it to be ... where is the mind? The heart certainly plays a far more important role in our operations than we thought.

      ...and I thought this quite relevant in the context of the discussions David and I have had about languages in the recent past.  The interesting question is about what will make way in the curriculum for the introduction of the statutory language?  It also prompts the strategic question of what we might do, if anything, in response to Dulwich's clear marketing of Mandarin in the primary sector.

  • This has been an incredible journey and I’m so excited to see where it takes us. While redefining what teaching and learning looks like in the 21st century isn’t an easy journey, it’s one well worth taking. Not only have I had the opportunity to observe students engaged with their learning to a degree never before observed, I’m seeing teachers engaged and motivated with their craft to a degree never before witnessed. I’ve never seen anything that can have this impact on both students and teaches at the same time. It is certainly an exciting time to be in education!
