What's a PLN, why build one and how?: Part 1 | TeachingEnglish | British Council | BBC - 1 views

  • the heart of PLN is the concept of people who connect together to help each other grow and learn.
  • The technology comes in because it is a tool that can help you to connect to those people and it can help you process the information you get from those people into meaningful and hopefully useful knowledge.
  • PLN can help. They can point you to the right articles, the best sources of information and guide you along the way, so that you save time and access the highest quality resources

Can you see the highlighted part? I did that with a highlighting tool. The tools alone that are available with diigo are very useful. I have installed the toolbar in google chrome. I have also set this note so that only people in the PLN group would see it

When Educators Become Curators - keynote slides from #moothr12 » Cat's Pyjamas - 2 views

  •
great slides on digital curation.  The what, why and how.
  •
I particularly like the circular graphic on the curation process as it emphasizes that curation should not stop at just collecting "stuff". It is what one does with the curated information that becomes valuable to the individual and others. I would like to create a unit in an English course on curation. Keep your eye out for any good examples out there!
