Storytelling to Motivate Your Team
Art of Conversation -Storytelling has been one of the oldest forms of communication. Even before our ancestors were able to verbally create words, they were telling their stories in caves with pictures and dye. As time went by and verbal communication came into the every day, people of the past sat around fires in caves, in battlefields to discuss the victories of the day. And even today when we go camping, many of us share ghost stories, or stories of humour to bond. Storytelling is powerful
ARGs have failed to break into mass media, because the interaction is in the wrong place. Right now, the interaction is finding the story. When someone doesn't know what to do next, it's easy to stop, and every time we ask someone to change platforms, we lose audience. But the experience of transmedia is powerful, immersive and emotional. We have to find new ways to tell stories across multiple platforms using interactivity.

When I first used Queneau's Exercices for teaching, I would hand out photocopied passages from nineteenth- or twentieth-century French authors, and students would work on these texts, changing the tense, point of view, sequence of events, and so on, as needed. More recently, I have used practice texts from a single work, Albert Camus's novel L'étranger , whose stylistic simplicity lends itself admirably to the purposes of the course. The students are given a two-paragraph excerpt from the novel for written assignments and a different passage for in-class practice. The advantage of having a single text is that in a short time the student has committed that text to memory, knows it in minute detail. The vocabulary and syntax are not an ever-renewed obstacle, and the student can proceed directly to stylistic modification of the text.
Eyes on Content Experience - slides
"Here are my slides about the special aspect to user experience: content experience. The value for user comes typically from the content, not the interaction itself. It is sometimes hard for us HCI people to remember this. "
