Neil Gaiman: Why our future depends on libraries, reading and daydreaming | Books | the... - 1 views

Karen, So glad you posted this. I hope everyone gets a chance to glance at this. The daydreaming, imaginative mind, is the mind of the future. Readers, artists, poets, writers, scientists, mathematicians, and inventors (Tessla comes to mind) use a part of the mind that soars. It looks inwardly, that is, this aspect of mind focuses within--not outside, not out in the "mundane" phenomenal world which is so much emphasized in our device driven daily routine. It can do this too, of course, but it goes inwardly with will power, focus, and determination. How does it do this? Practice. Reading, imagining, writing, doodling--yes doodling--there is research "out there". Read about J.K. Rowling's trip from Birmingham to London on the train and how the "gift" of Harry Potter was given to her. Thanks again, Karen, John
