4 Equity Levers in Project Based Learning | PBLWorks - 0 views

  •
"... 4 key "levers" that promote equity .... These levers amplify the power of the Essential Project Design Elements and the Project Based Teaching Practices, and ensure they are used in ways that reach all learners. Because equity work is an ongoing process rooted in curiosity and ongoing reflection, the levers are each supported by a guiding question."

How media literacy is critical to saving our democracy - 1 views

  •
Solid article by Alan November "We are in a mission-critical state of losing our democracy unless we broaden our definition of what it means to be literate today. As with reading print, web and media literacy needs to be embedded across the curriculum and within the design of assignments across all grades and subjects. Students need practice, practice, practice."

Creative Educator - What Makes a Good Project - 3 views

Good list of criteria of what makes for a good project. I like the emphasis on connecting with resources (meaning other people or students) outside of the classroom, perhaps even internationally. Does anyone know of a clearinghouse of classrooms and/or schools that are looking to connect with other schools or classrooms? I would really like my classes to connect with classrooms in Great Britain to see what their students are taught about the American Revolution.

Do our devices control more than we think? - 2 views

  •
This is a MUST listen to episode of TED Radio Hour about the impact of social media on us and how few of people are actually part of creating it: "We're swimming in this digital environment that is created and hand-crafted by a handful of companies with deliberate goals to capture human attention. Now you have 2 billion people, 25% of population and 90% of GDP, whose thoughts are shaped by this handful of 20 to 40 year old mostly engineers and designers in CA. … This problem is underneath all other problems."
